Should politicians be forced to give yes/no answers? 6:22pm on 19 Oct 2009 This debate seems to assume too that somehow the Journalist is always in the right with their line of questioning - sometimes a politican just can't accept the premise of the question, because the premise is wrong. That's the problem with star presenters who get a brief and a day looking at something, rather than serious journalists who know their subject inside out.

Want a straight answer? Ignore Paxman, read the FT.

This is a bit off-topic, but you do get that *Brown introduced the 10p tax band in the first place* (and as an interim measure whilst Labour tax credits came into place, as it happens). You can criticize it if you like, but to do so from a Conservative point of view really makes very little sense.

But don't worry, you might banish us Labour supporters for a term or two but we'll be back. And when we are, we're going to steal YOUR wallet. Mwa ha ha ha haa :o)

And back on topic, didn't the White House refuse that first press conference because they were refusing ALL press conferences at that stage Nick, or had that slipped your mind?

I think you're very moderate in your comments Nick, but sometimes I do feel a Tory bias comes through in what you decide to actually report.

Only themselves? Political corrospondents completely innocent? MPs surely are to blame Nick, but surely you recognise your collegues have a roll in this too.

I disagree entirely. There is something very terribly wrong with the system, most of the MPs who used it are decent hard working people. They thought what they were doing was fair. I do think, however, they were wrong, and we need to tighten up the system.

Quizzing Cameron 5:42pm on 29 Sep 2008 The second video reminds me of a comment Brown made early on in speech last week that no one really picked up on:

"...when people share with me stories about the hard time they're having with bills, I want to help, because I was brought up seeing my parents having to juggle their budget like the rest of us." (http://www.labour.org.uk/gordon_brown_conference)

Which was I think another shot at Cameron, someone who comes from a family that has never really had to worry about money, not like the rest of us.

As it is I'm not too worried about one or two senior members of a party being from very rich backgrounds - my concern really is when a majority of them grew up without really understanding how life is for the majority in the country.

Really, if the tories were more representative in this way they would make a much better opposition.
Regrets? Just the one 5:15pm on 29 Sep 2008 Another fair and balanced piece from Mr Robinson. Why is it that Osborne's criticism of Brown get's published, but no criticism of Osborne's idea?
