The sanctity of the Commons 2:42pm on 03 Dec 2008 You are not supposed to use your real name here! Stop it, please now, stop it. If you have something to say, about accountability, then stop doing it anonymously. STAND UP. The arrest of an MP is not so shocking at all to the lowly working class folk. you remember them? they were and are the backbone of this nation, with principles of rigorous honesty, hard work and pride in their trade. The police have been abusing their powers on the ground for the lifetime of the New Labour administration. God alone knows how many people are in jail, fitted up by bent police who are more interested in arresting anyone than the actual perpetrator. On the ground the police are seen as nothing more than a gang of thugs with warrant cards, by those members of society who have no money or influence. they are but targets of the criminal justice industry.

Now that hubris has spread up the food chain and gone so far now that it has reached the very top, we are all suddenly interested. Now the idea that the middle class three bedroomed home may have the front door smashed in by armed terror police, it is an issue to be looked at.

This country is no longer sleep walking into a police state. We have closed our eyes, put our fingers in our ears and stepped off the edge of the cliff. We are now diving headlong into a police state.

The only genuine solution to the matter of police arresting MPs in dawn raids, cooked up in non smoking rooms, is to act in the most drastic manner. Every single senior police officer should be stripped of their pips and warrant card, arrested, bailed, and a court held in the Commons. the wheat can be separated from the chaff and jail sentences handed down. Yes they would be political prisoners, but twelve months out of circulation while the mess is sorted out can not be anything less than a greater good.

In the mean time there could be a temporary military head of the police on a fixed four week rolling contract. as soon as suitable chief constables are recruited from the ranks then we can go back to the status quo, but as soon as possible, elections must be held for local chief constables, magistrates and the internal bureaucracy must be brutally dismantled.
Oh! And stop paying them so much money, just to do their jobs.
Getting Disability Wrong 10:32pm on 01 Jul 2008 Well now. How can I put this? I have the unfortunate disposition of being not disabled enough to satisfy the requirements of the observer. that is to say, my disability is not only physical but also mental. Oh NO! I said it. I must be a nutter! Lock up the kids Mary and get my shotgun. This bloke is mental!

And he can walk too! he must be a danger to society. A social security scrounger too. Can't he have the decency to sit in a wheelchair so I can abuse him properly?

Of course this is never actually said. But you can see it in the eyes. For some reason, my suggestions of exchanging jobs goes down like a concrete duck. My idea is that I have the clipboard and I take a baseball bat to their knees, hips and head. Then I take an axe to the end of their right foot to remove the big toe and ball of the foot. Having whacked them senseless I will then call them a nutter and social security scrounger, just like they think I am.
