Engligh is my first language, sarcasm is indeed what Leo employed (grab your dictionary and re-read, slowly if you have to, his post) and his comments are still funny.

And no, democracythreat, I don't hate you at all. I do think you are a tad longwinded (I'm trying to be generous), a bit of a broken record, oftentimes miles off topic (but, hey, these boards are primarily entertainment anyway), and seem filled with hatred/anger that tends to pervade your comments. I do hope you can slay all your demons in this lifetime and find some peace. Hey, maybe this board is theraputic! I feel better myself already!

March of the right 5:58pm on 08 Jun 2009 Great comments MAII but our US democracy can also be described with some of the same words as you described Europe's.

Certainly democracy in its various guises is not perfect but at its core it makes the masses feel good that they are asked to participate in governing themselves. Democracies, like all political systems, are run by flawed humans - not philospher kings - and the real bottom line (as we all know) of all political systems is power, prestige, patronage, etc.

The key to keeping the masses at bay, I think, is to create a sufficient facade that convinces them of their importance yet keeps them subjugated. Perhaps the US system is a bit more advanced than Europe's and so we see our own slavery less than we see the Europeans.

Your comments are often as wayward as a boat full of migrants. :) I would suggest taking your concerns about the church to your local bishop and quit boring us. Thanks.
A greener Germany 8:59pm on 22 May 2009 MAII: as an American, give me 18th century european open-air markets over a US-style shopping mall any day. Laughable comparison, I must say, to anyone who has experienced them both.

And why the cheap-shots at German (more accurately, Bavarian) culture - i.e. Lederhosen, freuleins, sauerkraut and beer? Nice combo (except Lederhosen) if you ask me.

Clearly you have some deep seated resentment of Europe yet you comment here so frequently and say nothing.

Face it, europe is superior to the US in too many ways to count and you just need to come to grips with that. Sorry, old chap.

Will the Austrians ship the Turks and Slavs west and the Italians and French ship the Africans east? Yeah, a recipie for nationalistic fireworks, that is what I see. This idea, too, will be especially unpleasant in an economic downturn.
