CNN, Steve Jobs, and a dodgy rumour 7:40pm on 04 Oct 2008 That's an internet troll for you, I'm afraid. Journalists need to be made aware that user content is not always true, or even safe. There are people out there who do things for 'lulz', simply because they can, for the fun of it - that particular comment looks like someone doing so.

Journalists should do their own work, not have the public do it for them, as it only leads to instances like this one.
Graphic images 8:49pm on 24 Sep 2008 I agree with the BBC's decision not to show the whole of the footage; to do so would indeed have been gratuitous violence and cause undue distress to viewers.

While we cannot wrap people in cotton wool in today's society, we should not allow ourselves to let it become a mundane feature of our everyday lives; that should include its over-inclusion in news footage.
