Pope Benedict's international policy 3:35pm on 09 Nov 2009 mccamley, you don't need to be so touchy about the Popes past. The Nazi social policy was aimed at saturating every aspect of German society with a Nazi grouping. It would have been virtually impossible to be active in German society in those times without being a member of some Nazi front organisation. It did not necessarily mean that you were a Nazi.

So what. These are the same people who covered up clerical sex abuse for the last 40 years.The diocese of Delaware has just filed for bankruptcy in order to avoid its debts to victims.In ethics its not what you say its what you do that counts.As for the Pope's New Year messages, is he serious?

To Be Straight With You 10:01am on 21 Oct 2009 Will, I sometimes have problems understanding exactly what you mean.In the piece at the start of this blog you mention the divisions within the Anglican communion, which are obvious, even to an outsider, but you also say there are divisions in other denominations but fail to elaborate. Again in point 15 you say "new readings have paved the way for changes in church teaching....in a variety of denominations across the world" but you don't give any examples.You also refer to "the church" as opposed to the Anglican communion and other denominations I get the feeling, maybe wrongly, that you are running several different arguments into each other and blurring your meaning in the process.Could you expand on some of these points please?
To Be Straight With You 10:53am on 20 Oct 2009 Is there actually much of a debate outside the Anglican community( which is tearing itself apart) and a few related Christian sects?I have'nt noticed much discussion within the RC church or Islam for that matter, or Judaism.
The secular world has granted Gays equal rights, legal protection from homophobic attacks, the right to adopt and the right to civil marriages.It seems to me that the religious are playing catch up here but are still falling far behind.
Losing Our Religion 3:50pm on 18 Oct 2009 Hi Helio, I thought Will was just querying the actual physical resurrection of Christs body. I think there are differences in Protestant and RC doctrine regarding his physical appearance after death. I took it that both were in agreement that a "resurrection" of some sort had happened ie it is historical.
