An unconventional Church 7:07pm on 05 Oct 2008 Although the Bible isn't always easy to interpret, one thing that's clear is that Jesus wasn't political ("My kingdom is in Heaven") . His mandate was so simple - love God with your whole heart, and love your neighbor as yourself. Tying any political agenda to Jesus - beyond giving people freedom to worship as they choose, and helping the poor, aged and sick -- would seem to me to be a tremendous stretch.
Ice queens 2:05pm on 03 Oct 2008 I'm a working mom too, but being busy doesn't mean I can't think straight. Do I want a candidate who "understands" me personally? No, I want a candidate who understands the problems facing the country and knows how to find solutions to them. Sarah Palin has only the most superficial understanding of the problems, so how can she possibly solve them? I thought her winking and contrived "folksy talk" during last night's debate were nauseating. I hope your "hockey moms" aren't representative of the people who will be voting next month!
Oud awakening 4:51pm on 20 Sep 2008 Jon, thanks for this story - I'll keep it in mind as I head to the polls in a few weeks (unbelievable that it's so soon). Rahim, I'm so pleased to have you as a new compatriot - I hope your faith in democracy will prove well-founded. Your story is an important reminder that whatever the ills of the world, war is rarely the answer!!
