I think the BBC is gradually putting its weight behind labour, We started with them suggesting a hung parliament and now we're slowly creeping into subtle comments.

Worried about their tax take with the Conservatives?

The BBC seems to be positioning itself to fight for Labour. They started by suggesting a hung parliament and look to be gradually shifting to endorsing Labour as the next government. Anything to do with the Conservatives reportedly wanting to reduce their tax handout.

1. The tax is only on discretionary bonuses.
2. Guaranteed bonuses are unaffected
3. The bank pays the extra tax
4. So the 'ankers still get their money
5. What are they complaining about?

Can't afford half a pint of mild anymore.
Can't afford to go to the pub.
The pub hasn't got a corner anymore.
The pub's been knocked down.
There's a big hole where the pub used to be.
The hole's got got concrete and steel pylons.
The pylons hold up a new building.
The building's a 150 story bank.
The banks is buldging at the seams.
The seams have burst.
There's all money bursting out.
The money is floating down.
The people are hungry.
The money is worthless.
The people all eat the money.
The ink is poisonous.
The people are dead.

I was bored. It's all so, well, so impossible.
New name for a new economy? 7:01pm on 15 Nov 2009 Just read the first few posts. Haven't got time to read them all. But for a new name how about just plain and simple

GREED

Money has become the evil. Not having a particular pop at the BBC here but as an example it gets 3.5 billion pounds. And still says it hasn't got enough. ???? Wages (some) are just plain ridiculous. Local government cry they must pay ridiculous salaries to attract the best. Banks - well. Some here are obviously far more equiped with the financial knowledge but it seems to me because ,money no longer has any intrinsic value society is the victim.

We must sever the links with the paper money economy. Let them gamble as they like but if they fail they suffer not society. And some how pay them with valueless paper if it all comes crashing. Note pay them with money from the real economy. Something like luncheon vouchers. Or just hang them
Pause for thought 7:07pm on 18 Oct 2009 Well one thing cheered me up lately. The sight of Hester obviously gorging himself on our money means he shouldn't be around too long to enjoy it. The size of him!
An embarrassment of cuts 09:45am on 06 Oct 2009 Just to elaborate as to why I feel so strongly. I lost a business in the 90's I've been made redundant in 2 recessions and now in my 50's can't find work. I'm working day and night to set up a small business again and I have some multi-millionaire politician telling me to work longer when anyone with a little brain-matter could see this coming. And can see it coming again with the establishment's attitude of "Isn't it so lovely house prices are going up again......". Get rid of Trident. Get rid of the clip board army. Government gets more than enough money. USE IT WISELY.
An embarrassment of cuts 09:29am on 06 Oct 2009 That's it no vote for Tories or Labour. Was always undecided about Cameron and definitely don't think much about his sidekick. Listen closely and says spots a lot of words but says nothing. Just got rid of the unwanted over the expenses then with his obvious backtracking on Europe and now this.

Why we should work longer, harder to pay for the bankers and pay more tax in the meantime. Get rid we need a new system.
Should students pay our bills? 10:04am on 22 Sep 2009 I've quickly scanned this blog and see many references to the NU Labour target of 50% school leavers going to Uni.

The best explanation I've heard as to how this target was arrived at is this.

Gordon... 'I think Gordon we should aim to have 60% going to University'.
Tony... 'We can't have that it would make the 40% that don't in the minority and discriminated against. No it should be 40% going to University.
Gordon... 'No that would make the 40% that do a privileged class. We can't have that' Oh no!.
Tony... 'Then what do you suggest?.
Gordon... 'Ummm. Let me think'.
Tony... 'Um'.

Tony and Gordon in a brief show of unity... 'I know 50%. Yes 50% that makes it all fair. 50% privileged and 50% discriminated against and we're in the clear. That's our policy then. We'll have 50% going to university'.
Lloyds: Mind the GAPS 5:16pm on 18 Sep 2009 Can somebody tell me how these bankrupt companies can still issue new shares. What are the shareholders buying? If a company was worth £170 and is now worth only £30 (left out the billions) then I would expect there would already be £30 of shares already issued. To issue another £20 of shares what are the shareholders buying - £20 of hope?
