England cannot replace Rooney 5:41pm on 14 Oct 2009 heskey: one of the worst strikers to have put an england shirt on in the last decade.
he is not a striker. strikers score goals.
he lacks technical ability, match fitness, game intelligence, speed, pretty much everything.

imagine this scenario:
in a game with very few chances, england are 1-0 down and heskey has a one-on-one opportunity to equalise in the last minute. 99% of england fans would have hoped that chance fell to anyone but heskey.
and guess what, he misses. england go home and capello sticks with him. again and again. he can do no wrong. he's not even good enough for half the prem teams. what on earth is going on. wake up!!
also what a load of nonsense about only picking players in form. a promise capello made.
if you have an honour fabio, drop heskey and ferdinand. they have no form.
he misses more than he gets on target, he is absolutely wasteful.

that stat is all you need to know. with defoe's pace, he will drag more defenders out of position.
heskey is not a striker, he does not strike.

you are joking right? 137 goals in 301 premiership appearances and at least 15 against every top 4 team individually? also scores goals for every team and on every stage and you say he has no pedigree and heskey does? he is the best natural finsher this country has seen since linekar and greaves. heskey is a joke.
you are not a football watching man.

now that we have decided lennon is the best right mid option, who do we partner defoe with?

defoe is teh best natural goalscorer this country has produced since greaves and linekar. to omit him and take a heskey or a cole who are both not reliable goalscorers or intelligent footballers would be criminal.
its as logical as can be.
even rooney doesn't score enough. midfielders score more.
defoe is our no.1 option. simple.
THERE IS NO ARGUMENT. IF HE SCORES, HE GOES. FOOTBALL IS ABOUT GOALS AND RIGHT NOW HE IS GOALS. SIMPLE.

It's genuinely sad when you see comments like this. I really am lost for words. Does this person watch football? To call probably the best natural finisher and poacher this country has seen since greaves and linekar and ian wright a 'waste' is a joke. he is the number one striker in this country at the moment and will outscore any other striker including torres right now. he has matured, has game intelligence and now is lethal in front of goal. he is quick, strong and sharp. rooney is a midfielder by the way, not a true striker. carlton cole is hit and miss, too unreliable and as for walcock, 6 goals in 90+ games is dire. lennon is the future, our best midfielder at the last world cup.

what a load of....! why is heskey playing? does he score goals? how many assists has he got?
opta shows very little in both fields.
on that note, walcott has only scored 6 goals and made 9 assists in 90+ games with arsenal (opta). that is a very poor return.
the two in-form players in this country are lennona nd defoe.

no. hello. dear arsenal boy, spurs have actually lost the least amount of games against the big 4 over the last 5 seasons in league and cup games, check OPTA. their record against man u, arsenal, chelsea and liverpool is incredible. last season alone, they beat liverpool twice, beat chelsea, drew with arsenal twice and drew with man u.

hahaha. How many managers? You missed that bit out. Also missed out 2 X 30 points behind the top 4 seasons. And you missed out how many times were Spurs in relegation trouble at Christmas. :)

spurs can spend half the season there in last position and still finish 8th and have a cup final. what does that say? also i think you'll find spurs missed out on 4th position on the last day of the season thanks to the lasange. only team by recent league form and cup form over the last 5 seasons is spurs. not city. also spurs have the best league form against the big 4 including the big 4 themselves.

In the last 5, Spurs have 2 5th place finishes, 1 cup, 2 finals, 8 semi finals and stability in the board. They have an experienced manager and for all City's money, have a squad that knows how to play together and have a better balance.
City are not a threat and never have been. I expect Spurs to really cause problems to the big 4. They've been knocking on the door for sometime. What have City done? Anything??
