Lloyds to convert? 9:21pm on 27 Jan 2009 I am an ex-HBOS employee and shareholder. The main problem with HBOS is not the Halifax mortgage book but Bank of Scotland and their extremely risky lending and the rot started with the merger of the two companies.

John Sargeant resembles your favourite uncle and I would far rather dance with him than one of the pretentious judges.

This is Saturday evening entertainment for heavens sake and it was so refreshing to see someone learning to dance who did not intimidate us - we could relate to him.

This is a sorry end and has tarnished the series and I shall no longer watch it.

The creation of Lloyds HBOS 10:43am on 20 Sep 2008 I couldn't agree more with Oxpecker (Comment 127). I am a former employee of HBOS with long service and saw the company change dramatically into this immoral selling machine. Very few of the management were interested in what was best for the customer, they were too busy looking to their bonuses and perks and staff were bullied to meet sales targets - confidence over competence were the watchwords in this organisation.

It is perhaps unsurprising that the banks who have needed to be rescued are the former building societies who de-mutualised.
Unity sustained 08:46am on 19 Sep 2008 Short dealing may be part of the problem here but the main problem is the dodgy lending by Bank of Scotland and the other sub-prime arms of HBOS and the fact they it is run by a group of salesmen who's only aim is to earn huge bonuses regardless of the cost to others.

There has been no professionalism in HBOS for some years and enthusiasm over realism has reigned.
New world order 6:36pm on 18 Sep 2008 Perhaps now the banks and mortgage lenders will act more responsibly with regard to their lending. Bank of Scotland play no small part in the troubles of HBOS due to their dodgy lending. On residential valuations they were prepared to lend 125% on the valuation of a property - absolute madness.
The creation of Lloyds HBOS 11:05am on 18 Sep 2008 After Halifax took over Leeds Permanent and then became, after merging with BOS, HBOS we, as employees saw a decline in old standards. The company was taken over by salesmen and the supermarket mentality has prevailed.

This year their valuation services (Colleys) were re-structered, all administration staff (300+) were 'displaced' and work was sent to a call centre in Preston run by call centre staff with only very basic knowledge of surveying or indeed internal procedures. The 'displaced' staff were subjected to bullying in order to place them in totally unsuitable retail jobs and a high proportion who had many years experience left - in short, if you couldn't sell, there was no job for you in HBOS.
