Who to believe? 3:27pm on 18 Oct 2008 why is there a radical fear of the concept of socialism? and why do people not seem to know the difference between socialism and social capitalism? its simple keynsean ecomomics vs. neo-con tricle down let the market determine what is right fly by the seat of your pants economics.

obama was weak on his defence against mccain's socialist claims. but tax breaks to the poor while taxing a bit more from the rich makes sense. especially in times of economic strife. it is not socialist to put precautionary measures in place to stabalise the economy. who thinks seatbelts and airbags are stupid when driving down the highway?

i read a comment the talking america blog where a guy said that you should do it yourself and sink or swim on your own. that this was the american way. but what if everyone starts to sink at the same time? i myself think it would be nice to have a lifeboat....or atleast a swimming teacher.
Did McCain do enough? 10:05am on 16 Oct 2008 if bill ayers was a terrorist, would he not be locked up? how did this even become an issue? both campaigns have floundered to different and new levels of ridiculousness.

mccain always spins his question right back to one of his generic obama attacks filled with his coined catch phrases, or makes irrelevant refferences to his record on other issues. i have not heard one real answer from him. almost all his answers have "earmarks", 'enough about wallstreet, i want to talk about main street', "cronyism" (what is that!!??), and "i have a clear record of reaching accross the isle".... to the likes of lieberman.... yea, great name drop john.

in fairness, obama has not answered many questions yet either, and he uses a few catch phrases too but he atleast talks about the issue in the present.

but forget who i think is worse at it. i really want to know why the questions never get answered, and the moderators allow the candidates to deviate strait to generic campaign retoric?
Did deregulation really cause the crisis? 08:47am on 07 Oct 2008 deregulation and tax cuts may not have been the whole cause of this GLOBAL economic decline, but they most certainly allowed the effects to manifest and worsen in America. deregulisation and decentralisation of government destabalises the economy, as ALL the free market cares about is efficiency and profit. not the need of their service of goods, thus unnecessary measures are taken to procure higher profits regardless of the non fiscal costs.

also tax cuts to the rich make no sense in times of economic decline. if the market is in decline, rich people will hang on to their money. they will not invest, they will not spend. give tax cuts to people who are battling to get by and they will spend their tax cuts to make life a little easier. this will increase the flow of money... which is effectively money supply, which will increase incomes to businesses which will help create jobs as well as increasing profits for the rich. everybody wins. it makes sense. give poor people tax breaks and tax a little more form the rich!
Should McCain have picked Romney? 08:59am on 23 Sep 2008 i think the real question should be: should obama have picked hillary as his running mate?

i think everything you mentioned is relevant justin, but i still think palin did more in the first few weeks to motivate and inspire the republican voters, particularly the religious right and women voters, than romney could possibly have done on the bill.

but if obama had piced hillary, palin would have been far less of an issue for the democrats, and the hype around palin as the first female VP candidate would have been a moot point.

i still think palin is going to crash and burn. possibly as early as the VP debate...... if biden brings his a game. but like anything about to self destruct, she is capable of great damage in doing so....

mccain doesnt seem to know where spain is, and that its a member of NATO and an ally. not a good thing, to be smack talking an ally. this makes one think that if mccain is ellected, america will run out of friends.... fast....

and no. 20 thank you for finally saying so. i would want a president who is smarter than me over someone i feel i could have a beer with and talk to "like a regular person". im so sick of the 'elietist' arguement. it just doesnt make sense.
Hagel questions Palin's experience 4:46pm on 18 Sep 2008 Looks like hagel is the Democrats Lieberman. ok, he's not endoursing obama, but to openly question Pailin is pretty much doing the same thing.

its about time that someone responded to the rediculous notion that she had foreign policy credentials just because Russia is close to Alaska.
