How can I be misguided? What I said was factually correct.

The trouble is once your friends get into Parliament they concentrate on looking after No.1. " The working class can kiss my ....." was never more apt.

No 13 What would your pension and healthcare have been worth if you had lived during WW2? Not a lot I suspect if Defence had not been given priority. Do you really think we are safe as a nation without it?

I have never been able to get my head round politics.

I am right that in WW11 the Germans were National Socialists and the Russians were Inter-National Socialists. What was the difference? Surely not the 'Inter' only?
Indebted Britain 4:22pm on 21 May 2009 Sorry, but was not Standard and Poor's one of the companys which gave AAA accreditation to the toxic assets which brought down our banks? Their integrity was of a Poor Standard.

Surely, their advice should not be taken seriously!!? As for paying for it that can only be madness. If everyone was to turn their backs on them they would soon go bust, which is what they deserve.

Any national downgrading should be treated by the Government as a joke. Surely, you can only take seriously criticism from those you respect, not a bunch of chancers.

As parting gift for his efforts on behalf of shareholders, I think he should be awarded a Blankety Blank cheque book and pen, after all apart from Sir Fred Goodwin, who is more expert in dealing with 'funny money'?
Should the Bank of England buy shares? 09:49am on 13 Mar 2009 Will this be another opportunity for Gordon Brown to indulge in 'social engineering' by buying up shares in companies in areas which return Labour MPs or in marginals?

The collapse in the stock market and the introduction of quantitative easing either by default or design is playing into his hands to acheive his socialistic aim of wealth re-distribution.

Before this whole fiasco is over, we shall all end up with the same - nothing!! Marx would be proud of him.

It is just that as an elderly exiled Scot it breaks my heart to think of what these two great Scottish financial institutions formerly were......examples of honesty, decency, integrity, and dare I say 'prudence' in which your money was secure.

Judging by some of the reactions south of the border, we could see the prospect (perhaps within a couple of years) of the names of Bank of Scotland 'Royal' or otherwise, disappearing from commercial language altogether. What a tragedy!!

As I said in my original comment, the infrastructure is there, all we need is a change of product.

I'm sure that the infrastructure is there, but for the catastrophic losses real or potential, which even now are still unknown. Who would have thought that the ultimate 'Big Bang' would have come from Scotland's two biggest banks exploding. When you see the resultant destruction how can Fred Goodwin morally hang on to his knighthood for 'services to banking'.

This 'quantitative easing'. Sounds as though the economy is suffering from constipation and a mild purgative is necessary. If it means getting rid of the Brown, I'm for it!!
