Stretching America 09:51am on 05 Nov 2008 I think Sarah Palin choice as running mate was MacCain's biggest mistake. His concession speech brings out the difference in attitude between the two of them.
McCain's lost battle 09:47am on 05 Nov 2008 This is the real MacCain we see in this concession speech - positive and patriotic. No less inspiring than Obama's victory speech.

It would have been good to have Mac Cain and Obama as running mates - alas this is not possible(?).
German guarantee lost in translation 06:44am on 06 Oct 2008 I think UK Government got right when they say (or have they?) that deposits upto a certain limit are guaranteed by the Government - the limit can be argued and reset if need be. This would guarantee the most needy get the benefit.

An unlimited guarantee is not acceptable or desireable in meeting the objectives - to mitigate suffering of the needy and the mainstream contributors to country's productivity.
Will UK rescue banks too? 6:23pm on 19 Sep 2008 The new Fed rescue plan proposal - a few days earlier - would have saved a lot of trauma to millions in the world and allowed a gradual controlled unwinding. And the Lehman chaps on the street would still have their jobs - maybe trimmed down to newly regulated and acceptable practices.
How banks depend on AIG 06:26am on 18 Sep 2008 Did the Fed leave it till too late to bail out AIG? Yes, I believe so.

When a person is drowning, you throw the life line without questioning or waiting to find out whether the chap in the water will now start to learn swimming or what stroke he is going to adopt. I believe, they have let the things too late. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential to improve chances of recovery. Lesson for the future?

Systemic corrections are required and should be brought in place in a controlled and thought out manner. The hysteria being generated needs to be mitigated by proper and timely assurances by the pundits.
Bank spanked - who weeps? 3:05pm on 16 Sep 2008 There is something wrong with the way the world is being run now. Time is over for knee-jerk reactions and partisan solutions.

The economists, financial wizards and world leaders find it now convenient to point fingers now at all others. They spawned the system.

Let us use this as a wake up call to re-focus on the real essentials = the world's food, health and education security - and thereby remove unsustainable disparities in living standards across the globe.

Our world leaders and policy makers need to re-examine their fundamentals. There is a dire need to reset the course.
