DAWN CHORUS

Is that a blackbird, or maybe a thrush
Singing aloud in the pre-dawn hush?
His cheerful song in the early morn
The first voice I hear as a new day dawns

Soon he is joined by a host of birds
All making sure that their voices are heard
Their songs filter through the mist of my dreams
As through my window first rays of light stream

Birds singing to welcome a bright new day
I would go back to sleep if they'd all go away.

Have you taken on a big company and won? 10:38pm on 16 Mar 2009 I had an ongoing dispute with npower regarding overcharging for primary rate units. I first contacted them on16/11/07 and after many very frustrating phone calls and letters I had still had no success, then I happened to see an article in The Times Online where many other people were complaining about the same issue and I posted a comment about it. I was subsequently contacted by the writer of the article Mr Mark Atherton who recommended downloading a template letter from The Times website requesting repayment of the overcharge.
I did this on 25/11/08 and much to my surprise I received a cheque for £50 on 17/12/08, this was slightly more than the £48.86 that I had calculated they owed me and was issued 'on a goodwill basis without admission of liability'. I would advise any other of npower's customers who have a similar complaint to follow this course.

What does your poppy mean to you? 10:28pm on 10 Nov 2008 Every time I see a poppy I think of this poem that I wrote some time ago.

Poppies

In the fields of France where poppies grow
Lighting the days with their crimson glow
They paint a moving picture bright
As they dance together in the sunlight
Beautiful flowers for the eye to see
In the fields of France where they grow free

Standing in crowds without a care
They bow their heads as if in prayer
Bending swaying nodding heads
With delicate petals of brightest red
Red as the blood that was spilt long before
In the fields of France in the midst of war

Such a peaceful picture before our eyes
Where the poppies nod 'neath clear blue skies
Casting their warm and brilliant glow
But what are they hiding? What do they know?
As they gently sway on, many secrets they hide
In the fields of France where so many men died.

Asthmatic? Do you have dust mites? 5:21pm on 25 Sep 2008 After watching your article on dust mites I've spent half the day washing bedding and hoovering mattresses. The One Show must single handedly be responsible for the deaths of several million dust mites. I would be surprised if you are not contacted soon by the NSPCDM (national society for the prevention of cruelty to dust mites).

I want an LCD TV
With built in DVD
It must be marked as DIGITAL
And ready for HD

Then I'll need to get myself
The latest PVR
With a couple of scart sockets
To connect my VCR

Next I'd like an iPod
Or perhaps an MP3
And I could do with a webcam
To go with my new PC

I want a better mobile phone
With digi-cam and video
And in the car a sat-nav
So I'll know the way to go

Oh heck! I can't keep up
With all this new technology
But there's one thing that I must have
I've just got to have a Wii

And please just treat me nice

You are my teddy bear
Please wear my ring around your neck
Don't leave me playing solitaire

I'm all shook up, I'm stuck on you
You're always on my mind
I can't help falling in love with you
It's only a matter of time
I'm just a hardheaded woman
But you have a wooden heart
You never hear a fool such as I
Is it suspicious minds that keep us apart?

Your blue suede shoes are empty now
I'm so lonesome tonight
It's over I'm without love
Heartbreak hotel in sight
I'm living in the ghetto
But the wonder of you will stay
I'm still crying in the chapel
Because Elvis passed away.
