I am the chairperson of a major bank.

I am sorry for lending out and 'investing' all the cheap money, which the government let flood the market.

Now, where was I?

Russell Brand was really good. Outside the box humour, fifty percent of the time, crap the remainder of the time.
Jonathon Ross was less humorous. More smarmy, childish humour.

Having said that.
We think we can control events.

Gordon Brown introduced his Golden Rules to banish Boom and Bust.

The BBC had controls to prevent Russell Brand and Jonathon Ross overstepping the mark.

Suddenly the controls are breached.

This is why we require leaders who can take control of events, instead of pretending that their controls are invincible.

Why was Gordon Brown so slow to react to the breach of his controls.
Why was the BBC so slow to react to this breach of their controls.

The BBC, what should have happened.
Did the Russell Brand show commit a criminal offence?
Did the person receiving the call wish to complain to the police?
Did Russell Brand's show breach BBC guidelines?

If yes to any of the above, carry out the appropriate action.

Off course we have the United Nations, with all its spin offs, which are supposed to control the events around the world.
And, we know how well they cope without leadership.

Why do you harp on about the bankers etc causing this current trouble.

In the same sentences where you mention the bankers, you should state that it was the USA & UK governments that allowed all this cheap money to be borrowed.

The cheap money was then used in leveraged 'investments' by the bankers.

The cheap money was also used by the others for cheap loans from banks to buy houses etc.

Both the above were like children being let lose in a sweet shop.

Stop treating us on the other side of the TV screen as idiots.

I work as a mechanical fitter and even I knew about this potential disaster over two years ago.

Goldman, Hungary and Regulators 10:34am on 27 Oct 2008 All the stuff surrounding this Credit Crunch is very simple to explain and understand.

The source of the problem was mainly the USA and UK countries.

Governments and personal debt, through government spending and personal borrowing was way beyond what would have been considered prudent several years ago.
USA spent on foreign wars.
UK spent on schools and hospitals – buildings and wages.
Lots of cheap money in both countries was available for bankers and money people to put into leveraged, so called investments. These investments were sold around the world.
No money was saved in either country.

This money was borrowed from the future.

It will have to be repaid now or in the future.

The government has decided to repay it later by borrowing more now.

The UK citizens will have to pay more in the future through taxation.
OR.
The UK citizens & government will pay through the -get out of jail free- card i.e. inflation.

I think this is the preferred government route - it is just that they would never admit to this.
In the inflation route, it is the poorest in society who will lose out the most.

But what do I know, I am just the electorate.

Cameron's economic problem 10:34am on 20 Oct 2008 A general comment about BBC reporting/programs.

Is the BBC supposed to only report - not tell stories?

In this case what are the facts of what each political party is proposing.

A Panorama program about this credit crunch included the following.....

Someone stated that the government and the FSA could do nothing about curtailing 125% mortgages, because the media would have objected.

The BBC reporters sat there and said nothing about this statement.

What happened to government taking tough decisions?
More demands expected 12:10pm on 13 Oct 2008 The first Comment sums it up.

Gordon Brown allowed house inflation to rip due to the low interest rates.
Low rates were cause by Gordon Brown not including mortgage costs and council tax in the inflation figures.

10 years of low inflation - who is he kidding?

The Banks carried out irresponsible lending - multiples of earnings, which the FSA approved (the FSA rules being created by Brown).

No doubt the interviewers etc will fawn over Gordon Brown the saviour.
When the UK gave Alan Greenspan his Knighthood, brown insisted upon putting on the citation: 'for services to financial stability'. What a joke.

Why is Gordon Brown suing Iceland?

Why not sue USA?

Or, why not sue Northern Rock or Bradford & Bingley management?
