Why does the EU get in on this, if they also have France, Germany, Italy and the UK involved? One or the other! I notice that we don't have California at the table alone... could the EU decide what it is and stick with it for a while?! Perhaps this is just my being very American, but this looks like a very Europe-heavy group already; either give continent-wide unions the table, or countries (though Africa could use a lot more representation, as always!). While it makes sense that the Euro is represented and the freedom of trade across borders in the EU, it still leaves three (four, if you count the UK) countries somewhat overrepresented.

Again, I am sure I am being an insensitive American, and I am sorry for that, but it really bugs me... I suppose the USA got questions like these mostly out of the way by now, but we also had the debate about Federal vs State authority, and a civil war over a similar topic; it is still evolving today. We also had the debate on proportional representation vs one state one (or two, as it has become!) vote(s)...
Obama harnesses the green power of the crowd 1:43pm on 02 Mar 2009 The very dignified president of our college has grown a beard as a fundraiser for the students who went to this... type of beard depended on the amount of money raised. It was a wonderful way to see the idealism of our college put into action.

34.... why does it always come to that? "You don't agree, you like a different model, then move, we don't need you." That is so stupid... is there no room for reform of bad systems and bad process, of failed policy and ethically questionable programs? Emigrating doesn't solve anything.

Why did McCain lose? 03:43am on 06 Nov 2008 Thank you. Your examples of specific people who did not give McCain their vote helps me to remember why I believe that voting is important. Because every vote has a name, a face, a life behind it, though nobody could ever know them all; and while single votes do not make any difference statistically, one million single votes can change an election. A few thousand votes not cast can change an election. Voting IS important.
The clock counts down 5:40pm on 05 Nov 2008 When I voted, I felt such a release of tension and nervous energy -- the day before had been a day of spontaneous tears. I was so wound up, but as I walked out of the polls I was suddenly very relaxed, and almost lethargic.

What state was it? How big was the surrounding community? As I am sure you know, not all of us are that way... I guess it's all a matter of personal preference (I find the thought of the company of people like Bethany puts my hackles up -- but too much religion does the same thing).

Material girls 4:57pm on 17 Oct 2008 So, you have seen your Wall Street and your rich women -- spoiled and otherwise -- and there are three weeks until the election. Why don't you get back in that bus, and go up towards Maine, south to Florida (I don't care if you actually get there, but in that direction), and the Midwest, Great Plains and all the way across to the Pacific Northwest? You could go see the places you missed -- most of which are in the north. There was a whole lot of Southwest (you never got further north than Las Vegas, until you had to be in St. Louis!), and then you skipped through a few states in the middle, constrained by needing to be at the debates. Now there are three weeks, and no debates, so...

You may have noticed that I find your route to be rather exclusive to a huge chunk of the Union (some of those states could have been pretty interesting -- Colorado is actually being contested!).
