Parliament's reputation brought low 07:51am on 09 May 2009 Now I understand why we don't punish criminals and thief in this country. Also this help me understand top bankers were paid all these money when they mess us up.

MP's (not all) should be very busy spending tis money and then claiming it, I cannot understand how they get time to look after the pubic and some even find time to be a minister. Lack of time could be the reason why our laws are so bad and the country is near ruin.

Rio, China and British investors 08:22am on 13 Feb 2009 From greed we have moved to fear. Now we have one of the best times to buy assets and grow; especially as interest rate, oil, raw materials all have fallen.

What is stopping us is proper leadership both in government and in private sector.

China buying assets is not a long term threat as increase in unemployment in China will destabilise the country and they will be forced to sell these to bring stability in their country.
Why Sir James Crosby resigned 08:48am on 12 Feb 2009 Here nothing much is going to happen to bankers but if they had done some thing in US soon they will be told to be packed up and sent to US. As they were dealing with money markets there is a good chance they will get there flight to US to face justice.

Hope hundreds of british banks will be investigated by FBI and prisoned if they are found guilty, this way we will be able to see benefits from globalisation.

FSA having bankers in board is like criminals put in charge of policing; there should be separation. You cannot expect a banker to police other bankers. They could we used as advisers to tighten regulations like police using criminals as informants. Please note I am note saying bankers are criminals.

Not only him none of them should be paid a bonus, their salaries should be cut by 50% as well.
Summit to bash Sarkozy? 08:06am on 11 Feb 2009 Well you have to look after you own people and your country first, as the the ultimate people responsible for the the money each country borrows is its own people.

For example if UK banks go bust who is going to end up paying, its the people living in UK not EU, China or India. So what is wrong in protecting.

Another example is' are you going to buy a house on mortgage and let some one live for free while you are destitute.

So what Nicolas Sarkozy is doing is right.
Are Barclays' profits irrelevant? 11:31am on 09 Feb 2009 It would be interesting to find out the profit on which they are calculating their tax, based on Peston's blog I assume it to be significantly less.

Also I assume their write offs are significantly less as all the bad debt could be sold to tax payers.
Are Barclays' profits irrelevant? 10:26am on 09 Feb 2009 When accounts are rushed out accuracy could be in question. Also auditors sign based on the information given to them. There is off shore financing this that and the other so its all questionable.

Even profit on audited accounts can be different to profit shown to tax man as accounts are adjusted.

I believe accounts should be published after one year so that there is time to do accounts accurately and auditors have time to audit it properly.

Also auditors should be made responsible for what sign without having clauses that gets them out of it.
Should Lloyds pay a bonus? 11:10am on 08 Feb 2009 Let them pay it buy government should implement 100% tax on people who earn over certain amount.

Also I doing understand these people being paid bonus for their performance; do we give bonus for negative or lack of performance as well.
