Is Owen still worth a gamble? 6:22pm on 15 Jun 2009 The best place for Owen would be Old Trafford. With decent service he will always score goals when he plays. The trouble has been that he's been playing at a club with no depth to its squad where they were relying on him to be fit to play and score goals week in and week out.

He goes to Old Trafford, plays sixty minutes in the league then he's rested for ten days, comes back fit to play again and so on.

United took a chance on Sheringham - who was older than Owen at the time - when Spurs thought he was washed up and that worked wonders. This could be the same situation.

As an added attraction for United fans it would wind up their pals on the red half of Merseyside no end to see a former darling of the Kop plying his trade at Old Trafford.

A good article overall Phil but didn't Wigan free spend their way through three divisions to get to the PL in the first place?

City are only trying to spend their way through one division.
Ferguson turns up derby heat 12:52pm on 28 Nov 2008 Over the last 20 years as a City fan I can't remember Taggart bothering to talk City down in the build up to a derby.

Are his comments a sign that he sees us a genuine threat - maybe not now but in the very near future!
