About Uruguay Tim, just how do they manage to produce these young players?

I'm aware of the problems within their domestic game and from my understanding, the league is dominated by Penarol, Nacional and Danubio. Is it just that these three main clubs have a good youth set up or is there a pattern of well organised throughout Uruguay, including the smaller neighbouring clubs?
Seba Veron, an heir to Cerezo 2:09pm on 20 Jul 2009 With regards to the question regarding Taison, he is as Tim rightly mentions, very quick with a good eye from goal and despite attracting alot of attention in the Rio Grande do Sul (Gaucho) state championship, his performances have largely been in decline in recent weeks (as with much of the Internacional squad).

Just last Wednesday he was dropped to the bench for Inter's home match with struggling Fluminense. Inter threw away a two goal lead only for Tite to introduce Taison to the field. Within 15 minutes he rescued Inter with two goals to secure a 4-2 win.

Following his exploits midweek, Taison was then recalled to the team for yesterday's huge local derby with Gremio. He was played a little out of position as Tite (Inter's coach) tried to accommodate him in a wider role. Taison however was ineffective and one of the poorest players on the pitch as Inter fell to a miserable 2-1 defeat in the match which celebrated a 100 years of the famous 'Gre-Nal' derby.

So as the last week has shown, there is clear room for development to Taison's game if he is going to fulfill his obvious potential.

As for the future, again, I agree with Tim. Inter would be extremely reluctant to allow him to leave at this time. His strike partner Nilmar is almost certain to return to Europe in near future (Villarreal seem's his most likely desitination although Wolfsburg are also interested), so it is highly unlikely Inter would allow both their first choice strike pairing to be sold.

I think Europe will be hearing more of Taison in the near future but the pacey number seven has a little more work to do first.

Trouble blights Huracan's renaissance 3:02pm on 29 Jun 2009 32 - One such player who for some reason is never linked with any major European clubs is the Argentine midfielder, Pablo Guinazu of Brazilian club, Internacional.

I'm frequently puzzled as to why he appears to be so underrated yet so consistent and influential to Internacional.

He's a very tenacious, fierce tackling midfielder who will run and run and erm.. run! Great attitude and is captain of the team. Have a look for him on You Tube.

I'm sure Inter will be delighted that I'm hyping up their captain! ;)

Brazil - youth, power, and a distaste for the passing game 12:55pm on 22 Jun 2009 5 - I'm assuming your referring to Ronaldo when you say De Lima. I think there is every chance he will be involved in the WC 2010 providing he is fit. Class is permanent afterall.

I do think your being harsh on both Nilmar and Pato though. Pato is still very young and I feel there is far too much weight on his shoulders to lead the Milan and Brazil forward line which is not doing him any good at all. Nilmar meanwhile may not have the media circus following him like Ronadlo but his form this year has been excellent and equally as good as Ronaldo's, if not better. (Search for his goal against Corinthians earlier this season). I just don't think Nilmar has been given a decent chance in the Brazil side. The guy has blistering pace, deadly inside the box and is an asset to the Selecao.

Brazil's Confederations Cup dilemma 1:42pm on 15 Jun 2009 It's certainly going to be interesting to see how Brazil will fare up against Spain and Italy.

Really glad to see Nilmar get his chance against Paraguay last week, he's deserved it. I hope he continues in the team against Egypt today.

Anderson provides midfield balance 08:06am on 26 May 2009 Hi Tim,

Would just like to ask your opinion on how close do you feel Internacional captain Pablo Guinazu is from getting called up into the Argentina squad?

For those who don't know him he is a battling, tough tackling centre midfielder. He has never really made a name for himself in Europe but he must be considered one of the best player's in his position in South America.

How football conquered Brazil 4:20pm on 20 May 2009 Sao Januario looks a wonderful stadium to visit, the main entrance overlooking the main road looks like a wonderful victorian building whilst it is one of the ONLY grounds in world football where the dugouts are BEHIND the goals!

Wonderfully unique and like Laranjeiras wonderfully characteristic.

I have never been to Rio but would love to visit those two grounds.
How football conquered Brazil 1:27pm on 18 May 2009 There are very few Europeans playing in Brazil. In fact, I don't think there are any. Serbian midfielder Dejan Petkovic played for a range of clubs including Flamengo and Vasco.

There are a few Argentine's, Colombians and other South American nationalities but Brazilian club's can only field three non-Brazilian players. The bulk of squads in Brazil consist widely of Brazilian players.

I think the story is the same in Argentina.

As a Santos supporter can I ask you what you make of Bolaños?

He is expected to join Inter this week but did not play much for Santos in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Has the domestic game been badly affected by the dispute between the government and Peruvian football federation or is the issue now resolved.

I remember reading around December time that FIFA were forced to get involved to settle the matter.
