An earpiece of the action 10:36am on 14 Jul 2009 Fantastic!! This is the kinda thing I love to see! I hope you can do a full piece on the behind the scenes in the production office sometime in the near future. Both the BBC's but also the FOM production office - I'd love to see how they manage to cover a 14 corner race track, 20 camera cars and dear knows how many cameras dotted around the track!

It's weird - I'm jealous of you like many people, but for me it's not that you get to go to all these races and meet the people. I love the adrenaline and "seat-of-your-pants" stuff of the live broadcasting. This blog really got me going. Thank you so much for posting it. I'd love to get an opportunity to try that some day myself!

I'd like to ask again if you could consider splicing some live action into the opening credits. The music is great, the animation is great, but it needs the live clips to spice it up and really give it the dramatic opening it needs!

Is the BBC the host broadcaster for this event? Does that mean you will be able to bring additional features/coverage? We haven't seen much of the side-by-side comparison of cars this year, which I thought was supposed to be a new feature?

One thing I've always wanted to see is the control room - I'd love to see how the director/editor/whoever controls what we the viewers see on the official broadcast and how he does things like follow one car round a lap from the 15 different cameras I'm sure they have to join together.

Just an idea - I know I'd love to see it, I'm sure others would too!

So since I asked for you to register with Twitter, I'll try another request - can you please please please consider splicing in some race footage into the opening credits of the show? I want to watch it and go "ooh that must have hurt", and "yeah I remember that - great race"... etc etc.

Great blog as always - I continue to enjoy the view from behind the scenes (I especially enjoyed seeing Ted Kravitz in the background during the F1 Forum and quickly hiding when he realised the camera was pointing his direction! :-).

Now that we're a few races in, I'd like to suggest an update to the main title sequence.

The graphics are good and the music is great as always! But it is really missing a montage of live clips. Even if you don't have access to clips from the past year or two, you now have plenty of content from this year. Please as I think the titles don't convey the excitement that the music and the show does.

I'm really enjoying your blog! It's a great insight into behind the scenes and is really enhancing viewing pleasure for me.

Do you have a Twitter account? Some other F1 observers do and I'm finding it very interesting too.

My comments/suggestions about your coverage so far:
-> The walk to the grid on the race build up was excellent, and passing to MB and DC for the grid walk was brilliant!
-> I'm not so fussed on EJ, I have to be honest. I think he has great insight but I don't think he's the same level [of credibility] as the rest of the team. The disagreements between him and DC are good though and show real knowledge and passion for the sport.
-> I would suggest that there is not enough in-depth pieces for die-hard F1 fans. MB's technical slots are too short (he won an award previously for his technical pieces, didn't he?) and infrequent. It was great that MG finally gave us the real low down on the diffuser issue - up till now, all we knew was it was the bit on the back of the car and we had to go to other sources if we wanted to find out technically what was going on (no one has even quoted the exact regulation that was causing the controversy, as far as I've seen, BTW).
-> I liked MG too - a real complement to DC.
-> I'm not convinced yet by JL. I know a commentary relationship requires time to bed in, but I'm not too impressed so far, and I feel that MB has actually weakened as a result. Give it time I guess, but I hope it improves.
-> Finally, it would be great to SEE more of LMcK. With the glamour of F1 it would be good to see some more of it on screen from the BBC team! (no offence to you blokes of course... :-) )
