Obama's Iran dilemma 05:00am on 19 Jun 2009 There is no problem for President Obama from the situation in Iran. His primary concern is to get reelected.
Iran causes enough problems for themselves. Iran has a predominately young, liberal population that is controlled by an aging cadre of extremists who want to force their women to wear veils, and build "nucular" weapons.
a. Any man who forces women to cover any more of the beauty that is the female form that the lady herself desires to cover is irrational, and
b. any government that would want to develop nukes in this day and age is irresponsible.

In correlation to a. somebody once said of the Taliban: "You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway."

In regard to b. Yes, Iran will eventually gain nukes, and they will probably destroy themselves trying to test it. Then all the conspiracy theorists on this blog will blame Israel and/or the US.

In staging a rally at the Marine base in camp Lejeune, he appeared to bask in the cheers of support from military families who in truth are merely relieved to see the end of enduring six years of separation. Now the Marines will be sent to Afghanistan instead of Iraq. There's Change we can Believe in.

He delivered nothing as he created the political illusion that he was making good on a campaign promise. The war in Iraq has already evolved beyond combat, through security and into self-governance. The surge worked, so now President Obama will surge to the other place. What better flattery of GWB's policies than imitation.

The masses won't even notice or care as they seek their share of handouts from the trillions that the government is stealing from the nation's future to satiate the instant gratification of the indolent union workers whose only concern is Monday Night Football. For the irreligious, sports is the new opiate.

While western (formerly Christian) nations are busy practicing personal avarice, a very small number of murderous militant muslims will continue to subjugate largely illiterate populations in Iran where eventually nuclear weapons will be developed.

Now that I'm no longer there, I really should get drunk to live up to the expectations of this site's rabid anti-military bloggers, but I really have been craving clotted cream... So I'll put off my PTSD until our new healthcare system makes it financially worth my while.

The only reason Pelosi pushed this bill through so quickly was her prodigious appetite for liberal pork.

Daschlegate and protectionism 09:47am on 05 Feb 2009 Well... we are not yet 3 weeks into the new Administration, and the careful vetting by the President as he has selected his closest advisors is replete with errors. So far we've seen a Commerce Secretary nomination withdrawal (Richardson), and HHS Secretary nominee withdrawal (Daschle), and now the Clinton's former Chief of Staff Leon Panetta who President Obama nominated to take over the CIA, has been found to have been paid $700,000 for speaking fees. Leon has taken almost $100,000 just from the very firms that we (the taxpayers) have just bailed out for $750 Billion dollars.

I screwed up... says the President.

Yes, we can tell. Maybe all those who questioned a lack of experience had some validity. I hope he learns quickly.

I believe the only thing in Washington that has changed is which political party is now defrauding the American people.

You correctly see the Schaivo case for what it was. Few people bother to do the homework.
Terry went into a coma in February 1990. Her husband Michael was initially for all life support, but began his quest to have her life support pulled over 3 years later, shortly after he won a $1 million malpractice lawsuit against her physician for not diagnosing Terry's bulemia, (A frivolous lawsuit IMO as it likely had nothing to do with her coma) and rumor also has it was romantically involved with another woman.

The short and easy answer to you question is No.

Note: As this refers to my view on mortgages, I believe that the number of mortgage foreclosures caused by medical bills presents a very small fraction of a percentage. The vast majority are due to negligence on the part of the home buyers.

You answered my question, and I'd like to elaborate on your healthcare question.
There are many hard questions that emerge from recognition of the fact that necessary heathcare should be universally available.

1. How do you define necessary healthcare?
(Does it cover Cosmetic surgery? Mental health care? Reproductive healthcare such as in vitro fertilization? Abortion? As well as a myriad of other subcatagories and elective procedures.)
Free preventive medicine and emergency care should be the norm. Unfortunately some idiot with a government job and an axe to grind will label contraception for preteens and sex change operations as necessary preventive medicine.

2. How do we solve the problem?

I believe our government totally fails us regarding healthcare. A holistic approach needs to be made rather than merely throwing tax dollars at HMO's. (That also means parents who take kids with a runny nose to the hospital emergency room should be fined/punished.)
Our government should flood the market with healthcare professionals by establishing free medical schools for any citizen who can pass the entrance exams to make more doctors, nurses et al.
Set up preventive medicine clinics, perhaps wherever people renew vehicle registration and drivers licenses and make preventive checkups and inoculations mandatory before granting driving priviledges.
Tort reform is desperately needed to stop trivial malpractice lawsuits.
The list is huge. If I had all the answers, I wouldn't be blogging.

1. Do you agree that a person who signs a mortgage should be responsible to have read and understand the contract to include comprehending his/her responsibility to manage risk?

I realize that today's society declares people should not be burdened by actually living up to the contracts, commitments and mortgages that they signed. We live in a victimhood based society where we blame the bad bankers for lending us money we couldn't afford to borrow.

While I have obviously have sympathy for anyone who loses their home. It's hard to be too sympathetic when I see the arrogant 25-35 year olds in California complain they can't afford the $800,000 house they bought on two WalMart salaries. I deliberately chose to live in a smaller house for 29 years and have now paid for it. Now my taxes are going to help those too stupid or greedy to read the fine print. I would be better off if I had greedily lived beyond my means.

It cost the poor people of America a record $700 million to get President Obama elected... I wonder where poor people got $700 million to give? Poor George Soros!
Now, the former senator with the most liberal voting record in the Senate can try and redirect $800 Billion in future taxes to a most titilating and liberally stimulating stimulus. Shameful indeed. It's an Obama-nation!
