No offense intended and I don't know where in the US you are posted but does "listening to the radio" last weekend qualify you to talk about the 9/12 DC rally? I noted there were 4000 comments on the BBC article on covering this- why weren't you there?
When are you going to comment on the ACORN candid camera tapes? The silence on this subject from the BBC is deafening. Even if you don't like the way O'Keefe slammed them THREE times, the story has amazing entertainment value.
I gave up on Justin Webb- he was just not capable of fairly covering the opposition to Obama during the election. I note that now Obama is elected, and Webb's mission accomplished, he has taken off back home. Why not get off on the right foot, get out, travel and see a representative sample of what this country is really about, and cover both sides.
As an aside, I really don't appreciate your mentioning Belgium and the US together in your last installment, as if they were comparable in any meaningful way. This does not bode well for this blog...

No, payment of reparations to the descendants of people that suffered discrimination, long after the fact, would not be just.
If you know anything about the US, you should realize the US is based on equality of opportunity, not equality of results.

I didn't realize that in this "mean country" (Michelle Obama's words) non-working illegals had enough money to be making campaign contributions.
Auntie won't be removed now under any circumstances, because if any Republican administration does it it will look political or like retaliation, and under Obama, no one would dare.
My guess is that a year or so from now when everything quietens down, Obama will direct his Attorney General to issue an order in her case (the AG has final say and immigration orders in individual cases are confidential). She will, then in the true spirit of the nepotism of her home continent, become a (grateful) permanent resident of the US, the criticism of which, as having failed in so many ways, Obama has built a career on.
Unhelpful messages 4:19pm on 24 Oct 2008 Yes the coverage of McCain's campaign has been "unhelpful", mainly because it is so slanted and inaccurate. For example, an article on the BBC website today "McCain Seeks to Win Back Momentum" states that:

"It (Palin's second deposition) comes as two leading Republicans announced they had chosen to endorse Mr Obama rather than their party's own candidate.

They are former Bush White House press secretary Scott McClellan and Republican Minnesota Governor Arne Carlson."

If anyone considers McClellan a "leading" Republican, they obviously are totally unaware of the controversy surrounding his book of this year.

As to Carlson, the failure to indicate that his is a former governor (he left office over 10 years ago) is completely misleading.
