Ferguson revels in classic win 11:44am on 21 Sep 2009 After reading through this whole thread no one has mentioned what I believe to be the most valid point. People keep going on about the extra time because of Bellamy's celebration and the substitution which occured during the four minutes added time but this is not consistent with how the rest of the game is played. Let's look at the facts here. On average 2/3 minutes is added on at the end of each 45 minutes played in any game barring a really bad injury where they have taken a lot longer to diagnose a problem, but on average 2/3 minutes is common. Now, that's after 45 minutes !! This was 2 minutes added on after 4! Nowhere in the rules does it say because it's time added on that any other time infringements get added on down to the very second. If referees did this throughout a game we would be getting games over 2 hours long.If refereee's are going to add on every second time is wasted they have to do this throughout the whole game and not just in added on time, it's ridiculous.

The best way to solve this added on time issue is to take control away from the referee in regards to time left and do it like rugby, any major time infringements and the clock stops and so when it hits 90 minutes a klaxon sounds and the game is over, Simple.
Britons face familiar challenge 09:48am on 16 Jul 2009 Look, I know Woods is a popular draw but is there any chance of seeing any other players? So far on the bbc online service I've only seen the Tiger woods group. Last time I looked there were other players competing in this tournament. Ok, he's the best but it would still be nice to see other players, complete favouritism if you ask me.

Twists and turns of breakaway row emerge 3:45pm on 23 Jun 2009 I think the best thing to do now is have a breakaway series. You can gurantee once the big boys move the others will follow. This is a game of cat and mouse. Mosely will not stand down as he's too stubborn and you have to remember what blood id in him, he's not likely to want to negotiate too much either,it's just not in him to give an inch. His legacy will be the man who brought F1 to an end but the thing is he won't care one jot as long as he thinks he's right, which he clearly isn't. A power control freak if I ever saw one. But also, let's not forget Bernie Ecclestone in all of this. He's not blameless, still owing teams prize money ! Let the breakaway begin, fresh heads,fresh ideas,cheaper tickets,more fan friendly and let the best car/driver win. This is not about Mosley aand Ecclestone's egos, this is about keeping F1 or whatever it may be called alive and there's plenty of experienced heads around to make a breakaway a success.

This has to be the worst thing I've read on here today. Here are some facts. Stam was crticised because he was WRONG, not proved right at all, what are you on about? Owen was often a substitute for Madrid that's something you did get right but that doesn't mean he never got a game, often coming on as substitute and SCORING. Have you see his record for Madrid? He's seen as a hero at that club. It was only because Capello was manager that he never started more games. His Liverpool goalscoring record is up there with the best of them and when you actually look at games played/golas scored for Newcastle his ratio is pretty much the same. The boy is a natural goalscorer and anyone who can't see that is completely blind. As for him not being able to play outside the box. He often plays a deeper role now and his touch and his football brain is superb. Players Like Michael Owen don't just become bad players. He's had some shocking injury's but you can't blame him for getting injured, it's not like he's doing it deliberately, just unlucky that's all. He's still pretty quick too, forget this lost his pace rubbish, he's quick enough for most defenders believe you me. Here's hoping he goe's to a club that will give him the quality players around him and he starts banging them in again. Here's my prediction. World cup 2010, Owen is in the England team after having a successful season with whoever and he comes home a hero being the boy who scores the winning goal in the world cup final. Don't count him out yet.
F1 battle lines are drawn 2:41pm on 13 May 2009 You know what? That's it for me, no more watching F1 and I suggest everyone does the same. This is the biggets case of spitting the dummy out I've ever seen. What i'd like to know is do these teams support any budget cap at all? It's ridiculous to think they can just spend spend spend, not only is it unfair to other teams but in the present climate a smack in the face to the punters. All this investment eventually lands at the punters feet in admission fees and merchandise prices.

Go to hell F1, you've managed to take a brilliant sport that was on a crest of a wave after last years epic season and turn it into a complete and utter laughing stock. Everyone is to blame, Mosely, Ecclestone, the teams, everyone.

Battle rages over F1 future 5:20pm on 12 May 2009 Let ferrarri go as far as I'm concerned or any other team who doesn't agree with the budget cap. In the past the big money teams have just been able to spend their way out of trouble and blow everyone else away,a bit like the big football teams do. By having a cap is the only way to see who's the best team. I feel the bigger manufactures are frightened of some smaller teams coming along and giving them a real fright but also it shows that the real quality and imagination really is with the smaller teams. The two tier system would ruin F1, why is it that F1 always want to constantly change things around? Just when we have a bunch of new, young brilliant drivers coming through, exciting racing theb seem determined to ruin it all.

Perhaps it's time for a new kind of racing away from the Ecclestone/Mosely regime, two people who are clearly not getting on. I wish they would let their own personal fued not get in the way of ruining this sport. Budget cap yes, all the rest just leave alone. If it aint broke don't fix it springs to mind.
McLaren await FIA verdict 4:55pm on 24 Apr 2009 In all honesty this seems to be a battle of personalities as much as anything else. Max Mosely (he of such high standards) and his relationship with Mclaren should not come into this. If anything, such hearings should be judged by and independant panel, Ecclestone or Mosely shouldn't be part of that process at all.

All this I feel is bringing the sport down. Not just the Mclaren issue but the not so secret dislike between Mosely and Ecclestone. We should be talking about the racing, Brawns briiliant start to the season, Vettles amazing win. If anything, the like of Ecclestone etc should be trying to explain why they put the drivers lives at a much higher risk by having a twilight race in Australia when every single driver was against it. Also knowing way in advance that Rain would disrupt the Malaysian Grand prix and could have brought that forward. Some of the decisions so far this season have been rather baffling to say the least. Even Having the Chinese grand prix at this time of year was a silly decision knowing the chances of rain is high.

But please, just make a decision on Mclaren and lets move on. But please also make it a fair decison based on evidence and past similar misdemeanours and not on a conflict of personalities. Rememeber, this happened in the 1st race of the season, we are now approcahing the 4th. You would have thought this would have been settled by now. It's actually becoming rather boring if you ask me yet it seems quite simple to sort out. Forget who lied and who ordered them to do so as that's not important, let Mclaren sort that out. All the stewards know for a fact is that Mclaren did Lie and so punish them on that and that alone. Done.

Now let's get on with the driving because that's what we are all here for isn't it?
McLaren await FIA verdict 3:29pm on 24 Apr 2009 Why do F1 not change the rules on this. Why do driver AND someone from the team have to attend the stewards meeting? Why can't just the driver attend and answer questions as he will surely know all the answers to any questions asked, where he was on the track, what he was told by the team etc etc.

I think in all honesty that Lewis probably went along with Dave Ryan because of Ryans long standing committment to Mclaren and probably felt a little overshadowed by him but I do wonder if the same furore would be happening over this incident if it was a more experienced driver like Barrichello or Trulli that was involved?

I believe Mclaren should be punished but not Lewis, he was put in a very difficult position by Dave Ryan and the stewards must understand that for Lewis, in the spur of the moment to disagree with what Dave Ryan was saying, must be a very difficult thing for him to do. We have to remember, regardless of Lewis' quality, he is still a young driver making his way through F1 and still learning. He will have learned a lot from this experience and you can tell by his manner that he fully regrets his actions even if those actions were slightly pressurised by his team. They should be apologising to Lewis as well as the stewards.
