Big four toil as Celtic show spirit 03:27am on 06 Nov 2008 A good and balanced article from a BBC journalist. Shock, horror!

Celtic stuck to their game plan and were only 6 minutes away from another famous, if unlikely, win against one of the most expensively built teams in the history of the game.

Man U played some excellent stuff and passed the ball as well as any team I have seen this season, and it was inevitable that they would finally get the break through that undoubtedly they deserved.

I have never seen any team, not even Barcelona, have that much possession of the ball for such long periods at Celtic Park. Celtic's inability to hold the ball up was inviting constant pressure which was bound to pay off eventually. And for me, Boruc has gifted them that goal. He really didn't have any other saves to make of any note except from Rooney. Everything else was routine. For me he should have dealt with that shot better.

Credit to Celtic. Utd had to throw on Berbatov(30m) & Rooney(28m) to get a point. Berbatov should have stolen it at the end. Thats why you pay 30m for the guy. Its a sad state of affairs when Celtic are in the top 20 rich list of European football, yet the difference in quality that they can put out on the park compared to Man Utd is staggering. The score does well to hide that, but its not a true refelection in ability.

The gulf in class was apparent but I doubt that you will see utd have to work much harder than that all season to get a goal.

Credit to both teams for a good game. Unfortunately for Celtic its not going to be enough, but they won back a lot of respect for their display.
Celtic need Uefa Cup lifeline 1:40pm on 04 Oct 2008 Have to agree that Celtic will need something of a miricle to qualify as Villareal are more than capable of getting a result at Celtic park a la Barcelona.....

And if Celtic couldnt beat Aalborg at Paradise then their chances of beating the European Champions and the runners up in La Liga look bleak. It is possible however. But not likely. For once that was what chick was saying.

Celtic were a tad unfortunate the other night but not picking up 3 points at home to a poor side will cost them.

I feel like they will perform well again at Old Trafford but will undoubtedly be outclassed by a better team. It will be an open game with goals. Man Utd will probably get a point at parkhead. Game over.

If it goes down to a play off for a Uefa Cup place in Denmark do you think that they will have the bottle to get a result?

Its premature to be calling it a crisis in Scottish football when last year was our best year for decades...Usual jounalistic BS!. We had an exceptional year last year for all clubs....this year is a reality check but no disgrace.....there are very fine margins....sometimes they go for you....sometimes against....ask John Terry
A nation holds its breath... 09:21am on 03 Sep 2008 Yet again Chick gets it all wrong and gets panned by his audience. Absolutely zero content from a guy who has been 'writing' about Scottish football for 40 years....you think that he would have something more worthwhile to contribute......You are not writing for the Sun Chick. The BBC shouldn't even allow you the privilege of covering the tournament, should Scotland qualify, if you are only capable of this kind of negative, boring, banal reporting. Metaphors and dated nostalgic attempts at humour are not going to impress your readers. What have you actually told us about the up coming fixtures that we didn't already know or feel ourselves? Probable line-up's, head-to-heads etc etc. Nothing. So whats the point of an 'informed' journalist writing a piece and getting paid for it? This is not Fever Pitch Chick.

Correct me if I am wrong, or if I have missed something, but It wasn't that long ago that we were capable of taking on the world champions and having genuine aspirations of beating them. Now we have come back down our media's 'normal' level of pessimism/expectation where they are fearing a double header with Macedonia and Iceland. Come on. If we don't expect to perform and take at least 4 points from this then we may as well pack it all up, wrap up the SFA and throw our weight behind(god forbid) a GB team for the Olympics. Then all the diddy's like Chick Young will be out of a job and we can stop living in a constant cycle of pain and suffering. However I expect like the vast majority of Scotland supporters we do expect to finish at least 2nd in this group and go on to qualify. We definitely have the players, we just need to ensure that we are organised and our 'big' players perform when we need a bit of magic. I expect Burley to carry on from where Smith/MacLeish left off. This is not a change in team as before (after Brown), only management. All the players are the same and predominantly young and play for the Jersey. They will carry the confidence from the last campaign over to this one and I expect them to do well. I for one are behind them.
