World Cup heaven or hell? 1:49pm on 30 Nov 2009 Interesting blog. Having followed England to a couple of tournaments, it never crossed my mind to go to South Africa as before I even knew the detail, it did appear to involve a whole lot of hassle and expense.

To Liverpool and Everton fans, I grant you. But as a football lover, who will pretty much watch any group of men kick a ball around in an organised (or slightly disorganised fashion)... I do find the Merseyside Derby to be the dullest and most overhyped Derbies.

I don't think the passion is on a par with a host of other derby games, although I appreciate that overfamiliarity can breed contempt.

Sorry, Emperors new clothes and all that. Sunday's game was between two dull tedious teams, played in front of what appeared to be, tired supporters who had seen it all before.

I personally don't want my club going into financial problems funding a stadium that is too big for us, just for the sake of a couple of first round games that will probably end up being South Korea V Mexico etc.

And that's not even taking into account that fans of the clubs that own the stadiums, probably won't even get priority or discount over tickets.... and tickets themselves will be overpriced and around the £100 mark by 2018.... and most tickets will end up in the hands of sponsors and hangers-on.

Common sense is very much lacking with this bid. Just use the stadiums that can already match the criteria. Surely FIFA are not that shallow that they prefer a computer diagram of a new stadium over an actually built and operating one? (forget I asked that...)

In fact, this subject probably gets mentioned on the BBC website at least one or twice a season, which is either too much, or not enough depending on your point of view.

Personally, doesn't matter to me what colour, race, religion, sexual orientation a coach or manager is, just as long as they can do the job.

There are a lot of facts and figures above, what is the percentage of black ex-players that go on to do their coaching badges?

Notts County cannot stay out of the headlines 08:17am on 13 Oct 2009 Still find it strange the football league made Southampton jump through hoops and even waiver it's legal right to appeal the points deduction before receiving its "golden share", but Notts County ownership is still being questioned & not officially ratified two months after the season started.

I appreciate that Saints were in Administration and County was a transfer of ownership, but the circus at Notts is growing by the day and it feels like we could be seeing another club being made a mockery of without the authorities doing a thing to stop it.
Plenty still to ponder at Portsmouth 11:45am on 08 Oct 2009 I don't buy into the fact that Al Faraj is a recluse... because buying a Premier League club is the last thing a real recluse would do!

Buying a club opens you up to not only the world's media, but also thousands of quite obsessive fans who will google-you-to-death and probe into not only your business life, but your personal life too. Plus you'll get the nutters who will spread internet rumours about you, just for kicks.

Really, you couldn't get more high profile unless you had double-dated Kerry Katona and Amy Winehouse live on an episode of the X-Factor.

Even as a Saints fan, I think I'd be willing to put up with running the Pompey circus if they were paying me £1m a year.

Storrie has come out of this with a no lose situation for him. He's seen as a hero to many Pompey fans and I fully expect, his own financial package has been enhanced. Perhaps he even received a "finders fee" for bringing Al Faraj to the table?
