Can French claim innocence in tapping-up row? 1:30pm on 10 Sep 2009 The thing I don't really understand is how players have to be a certain age before they can sign a professional contract, yet they can have an agreement which basically says that they have to sign the contract when they reach a certain age.

I doubt that they will make enough money by just showing 2 Premier League games a week. Plus, ESPN in all probability have more cash to spend so can actually afford it unlike Setanta.

In Asia ESPN have a joint venture with Murdochs News Corporation so I suspect that Sky will be alot friendlier towards ESPN.

Good reasons to stay up late 5:14pm on 28 Jan 2009 Great news that the beeb have kept the highlights, although I prefer soccer saturday on sky instead of score. You could probably save yourselves a few quid by just scrapping it and using the cash elsewhere.
Money talks in the London 2012 script 09:57am on 18 Jan 2009 You seem to forget that the 9.3 billion is not just being spent on building sports stadiums. It's being spent on other things like improving the transport infrastructure, building a new park, building new homes, building a new shopping centre, building new utilities, decontaminating a wasteland, etc etc....

Why we all lose in the 2012 funding lottery 4:46pm on 04 Dec 2008 I'm surprised a company like Tesco or one of the other big supermarkets haven't stepped in to put the money up as it would have been good PR and publicty. It's a shame the government is not keeping it's promise to the athletes. I just hope that they don't end up trying to cut costs in the facilities and Olympic village as that will just be embarassing come 2012 if the athletes start to complain.

Our facilities are simply not good enough for a country of our stature. I've been to Sweden many a time and they have indoor tracks and outdoor tracks of excellent quality. Sadly, facilities like them will never be built here.
