Dunces nixing Mayweather-Pacquiao 11:41am on 31 Dec 2009 Leaving aside the adequacy of the Nevada doping rules or whether by refusing to take the test, pacquiao is a cheat.
The big problem for me in all this is that this is a character assassination of mp by mayweather and his camp. It is designed to diminsh manny's past achievements and provide an excuse for floyd if he loses. If floyd wins, then victory will look even better, mr clean beats mr dopey.

I am in no position to say that manny is clean but to all those that are so quick to claim that he isn't:
1. He has not only had to beat 'stronger' fighters, he has had to overcome a height disadvantage as well and no amount of steroids will improve his reach.
2. It is not unheard of for a fighter to move up five weight classes and still be effective. Floyd Mayweather moved up quite a few and is still undefeated.
3. The skill he showed in the Hatton knockdown, to catch hatton and duck a punch at almost the same time. That is skill not doping.

you complain about geraghty not seeming as good at international level as he does at club level. might warren gatland be right when he says that premiership is not as good a competition as it used to be and so the difference in intensity between club and international rugby is too great for players to play for their country as they do for their clubs?
Haye can win but needs staying power 1:04pm on 07 Nov 2009 Anyone remember Chagaev's face in his fight with Valuev? To beat him over 12 rounds doing the 'keep the big man moving without getting caught' thing he had to concentrate every second. That is not Haye. He will not be able to do that over twelve rounds and if he tries it he will get KO. Chagaev showed that it is possible to hurt Valuev and if Haye can do that with his 'all guns blazing' style then he stands a chance. He still has to prove that his punches will hurt Valuev though.

They made mistakes but on Friday that had nothing to do with Wales playing badly, they were smashed to pieces in the collision. S Williams dropped a high ball = silly mistake. Wrong, he never committed to the catch instead of stepping forward, catching the ball and seeking to counter, he backed away, trying to catch the ball with his finger tips, with no idea of what he was going to do with the ball - that was down to the fact that he expected to be smashed by the chasers.

Wales lost the breakdown repeatedly (not turnovers but quick v slow ball) and their big men were being shredded. That causes infringements, not Wales playing badly.

He seemed to be highly rated when he came to Liverpool and then proceeded to get stuck in the reserves and this in part damaged his chances of playing for the Olympics. After being given time by Rafa, he has finally made it into the first team and is now back in the Argentina side. Ok, Pacquiao couldn't take Oscar to the floor but when you beat someone up to the point at which they aren't even trying to attack and have lost the ability to defend then you've won whether the ref stops it, the doctor stops it or the judges hand it over.

Pacman might not be able to take the punches of a welterweight but Hatton needs to be fast enough to hit him and he certainly wasn't able to hit FMJ. Nor does Hatton have as good a chin as Oscar considering he was ko'd by FMJ so to say that because Manny couldn't ko Hatton isn't true.

Brazil require style re-think 11:32am on 26 Aug 2008 People seem to be forgetting the fact that this is an under-23 tournament and the side that Brazil played is far from their best. Their defence has no resmblence to one that includes lucio alves etc. and they lack the spark of kaka and robinho up front. On the other hand, Argentina's full strength team has a lot of players under-23 who played in this tournament like messi, aguero gago and they used riquelme and mascherano as over-23 players to bolster the side. This was a match between Brazil under-23s and Argentina's 'almost international' side. We shouldn't be. too quick to judge Brazil on this match
