Winners and losers 8:56pm on 25 Nov 2009 Since this is a blog, it's been a bad day for internet forums, the wisdom of the crowd and template letters. Millions of downloaded template letters and forum posts all agreeing with each other, egging each other on were simply sewpt away in two minutes by the supreme court's judgement. Harsh but reassuring that decisions are not taken by the mob but democratically. A good day for the professions.
Why was David Nutt sacked? 08:31am on 02 Nov 2009 Have any scientists corrected you when you tell us they are unpaid? They may not receive a salary but are they really allowing the public to believe there is no benefit to being an advisor, that it does not lead to opportunities they would not otherwise receive? I don't trust any of the names hitting the headlines.
A little extra from the Halifax 11:45pm on 27 Oct 2009 When Halifax launched this account, Martin Lewis recommended it as a way to 'beat the banks'. Writing in the Mirror, 17th February 09 he said: '£ FREEBIES Halifax is offering Reward Current Account holders a monthly £5 pay-out if they pay in £1,000 each month.'

As you can tell, I am absolutely sick of the distorted media platform given to consumers who do not manage their finances. The media never speaks up on behalf of the silent majorty, the 60 million plus accounts run properly who are having their banking faciltiies that have worked perfectly well turned upside down by this loud mouth and his 6 million downloads.

Some of us have not spent the past 10 years spending money we did not have and are not in debt. Some of us do not take out multiple credit cards for freebies as Martin Lewis recommends. We think that is stupid. Some of us do not take up the deals Martin Lewis parades every week on GMTV. Some of us are not going out to eat on Mondays or Tuesdays which we've never done before because Martin Lewis says there's a voucher we have to grab.
Say hello, Wave... goodbye? 11:54am on 09 Oct 2009 Rory, I am not in the wave but since you and Stephen Fry are, please could you ask him if he paid for the many iPhones which he showed last weekend on a programme that he made with the BBC about endangered species. He appears to own six or seven iPhones which seems quite unusual and it made me wonder how he came to have so many. Thank you
Why haven't energy prices come down? 12:04pm on 03 Oct 2009 What is the point of us paying for an expensive presenter and a tour bus when no-one will speak to the BBC? I have not seen the figure of 40% increase quoted in any other media. I could complain but decided it was more useful to cut the amount of energy I was using and reduce bills for myself.
What makes a tech story? 08:12am on 02 Sep 2009 Your approach to stories should be one that I don't get from commercial media which celebrates technology and runs adverts alongside. The spinning of Spinvox 12:15pm on 23 Jul 2009 great piece of reporting, why has evan davis not reported this in his license fee funded chats with the company's founder? when davis said on radio 4 today this morning that it did not matter whether it was a machine or a human what was he saying, that this isn't a story? let's see whether license fee payers are interested, well done rory.
When a new announcement isn't really new 6:48pm on 14 Apr 2009 When you write about schemes like this, you seem to accept that the objective is to assist drug addicts, alcoholics, the most deprived in our society etc. I don't think that's it at all, I think government funded initiatives run apparently for those most in need are actually job creation schemes for the better off. I think this will get worse under the Tories because they have a completely naive belief that the voluntary sector given money will channel it not into their own pockets but to help those most in need.
It's never just 'bad news' first 2:45pm on 21 Feb 2009 Jeremy, I've already asked this on the BBC's technology blog. You mention Twitter. Does Twitter own the data posted on it by BBC staff and what is BBC policy on staff posting content on Twitter? Newswatch did not cover these points, it just discussed using Twitter as a quick substitute for the real world which I thought very depressing. There are a few of us who are not going to conduct conversations on a platform that has yet to inform us what it intends to do with our content.
