If Cook had hit a 6, would that have been the first time in test cricket that both batsman had reached 50 in consecutive balls? Or is this fairly regular in opening partnerships?

Not going back would not be "playing for the badge", as Pietersen would say. Imagine if you got a phone call from Geoff Miller tomorrow asking you to play cricket for England in India- would you say no?
Why we all lose in the 2012 funding lottery 02:30am on 04 Dec 2008 It's very easy to say that it's unfair to withdraw funding from the non-Medal Hopers and that everyone should be given a fair chance to succed, but the Olympics is all about medals and a country like Great Britain should be aiming to finish in the top 3 in 2012.
I know that when I watch the Olympics on TV, I don't recognise the names of the vast majority of the Olympians, I just support them because of the GB flag next to their name and it's always a massive let-down when you watch some person you have never heard of getting thumped despite you hoping that they were in with a chance of a medal.

people who say Lewis is a "tax evader",
why should he pay millions in tax when he is never going to get any benefit from the government for what they are spending it on? He spends 80% of his year travelling around the world and the rest (the little that's left) in Switzerland.
Would you be willing to pay millions in tax if you were barely ever in the UK?

And I disagree with people who say it has to be an Olympian just because it's an Olympic year. Does that mean that one year in every 4 everyone except athletes, cyclists and swimmers should be excluded from the competition? They have had a very good year and the amount of Olympian nominations shows that- doesn't mean they automatically have to win it.

I read that article and there was no quote of that at all. What did he say about that?
Or is it just an assumption based on some off-hand comment that he was happy with the squad he has?
I didn't hear the interview but it just seems bizzare that if it was such an emphatic response it wasn't quoted, merely mentioned quietly a few paragraphs in.
Anyone know what he said?
Mumbai horror shocks England fans 03:21am on 02 Dec 2008 I think England should go back and I would be very proud of my team's character and defiance if they did, even if a few key players were missing. India needs this series to help them go some way to putting this tragedy behind them, and the people of India deserve the one thing that will cheer them up more than anything else- International cricket.

Personally, I don't think that terrorist threat levels change from day to day anywhere. It's just as risky to be there now as it was when England first arrived, and it probably always will be.

I'm going travelling around India soon and cancelling my trip was not something I even considered. And I'm no celebrity and won't have any security with me unlike the England cricket team who will be safer with the amount of security they will be given if they go back than they would be wandering around London by themselves.
Sure it will be a tough, restricted and possibly boring tour if they go back, but that is their job and people have to deal with the highs and lows of any job.

But obviously the final decision quite rightly is down to each individual player.
