The perils of the lure of Europe 11:28am on 26 Jan 2009 Nah, Tim, most of the brazilian media don't give a damn to most clubs that don't play Champions League football, and even some that do.

I'm brazilian, and have some sympathy to Tottenham (its recent history resembles that of Palmeiras for me), and yet, when Gilberto (at that time on the first-team) moved to Tottenham, everyone but the guys who worked on the channel that broadcasted the EPL were asking "where did he go"?
And on that same channel, one guy was saying that this same Juventus had more tradition that UCL's CFR Cluj.

Don't take the brazilian media so seriously...apart from four or five, they all suck.
Coming to Maradona's defence 7:46pm on 03 Nov 2008 There is absolutely no point in denying he was one of the best players in football history, and anyone who thinks otherwise should be watching something else.

Tim, it's not that it adds "extra pleasure" from the victory. The fact that said rival is "extra angry" is what makes it funny. Even though it usually happened more frequently in here, these times the brazilian refereeing is being less complacent with dives and the such.

Oh, and, to all the ones that claim that diving and such are horrible, please go tell this to Cristiano Ronaldo and the ManU fans before wasting your lines across the atlantic.

I've got to agree.
Even though I'm a supporter for Palmeiras, there are some european teams that have my sympathy.

About the clubs, you've gotta agree that the Campeonato Brasileiro is fighting hard to resist. In the last years, the crowds are growing, and this year, even without Corinthians, it's still good. And the quality of the football is somewhat recovering too. The league is slowly getting more respect from players and the media, and if the clubs were not that broke, there would be less brazilian players elsewhere.

I enjoy watching Tottenham, Atlético de Madrid, Fiorentina, anyone-who-plays-against-the-big-four. It's quality, simple. But I still prefer the local league. It's passion, simple.

Rivalries are rivalries, but, the same way I'm for Palmeiras and have friends who support Corinthians, there are guys who think rivalry means hatred. Not all of us are the latter, mind you.

Oh, and, please, do not say that "winning is what counts". It hurts deeply those who truly love football.
Brazil require style re-think 6:01pm on 26 Aug 2008 giganticivan_bosnjak, I got to agree. But the mind of the brazilianm when it comes to football is really hard to understand.

Most of us like the good game, the "jogo bonito", and all. But no one likes losing. And losing to Argentina takes all the reason out.

And, someone asked about Lulinha. Even though I'm for Palmeiras, and he plays for our biggest rival, that's not only my opinion. He is in the bench of a second division team. Should be enough of a description.
Brazil require style re-think 6:45pm on 25 Aug 2008 I got to disagree that this "pragmatic" style is what made the brazilian football a winner in the recent years.

Our Seleção won most of those titles based on individual talent. 1994 had Bebeto and Romário. 2002 had Rivaldo and Ronaldo. We had great players with the team working for them, the entire team built in the concept "we hold on and you do your best". Not only that, but we had much more midfield quality back then.

It's completey possible to keep the way, but Dunga surely has not the skill to make a team that works for Kaka. Ignoring the final, it was not Brazil who won the Copa America. It was Robinho.

If someone builds the team for Kaka, Robinho and some reasonable goalscorer, then we are in the battle for 2010 World Cup.
