Airing the Afghan debate 06:34am on 07 Oct 2009 I find the comments about the Army scraping the barrel and taking everybody, silly. If that is true, then they certainly do a wonderful job of preparing young men and women for life. We have hired quite a few returning vets of Afganistan and Iraq, where I work (DOJ)and they are attentive, neat, hard working and proud of their work. They require little supervision and are very mature.

We also hire a lot of the products of our University system. THEY CAN'T WRITE A SIMPLE REPORT. They are often argumentive, lazy, uninterested in their work and do not know how to dress appropriatly for a proffesional enviroment. Twice I had to send young females home to get other clothing, because they had worn shower thongs to work.

I don't know what the Universitys are training them in, but the only talent we have seen is getting themselves fired for violation of the no drug policy, no sexual harrasment policy or sick leave abuse.

We continue to prefer the Vets and honestly we fight over them for assignment to out teams. They are truely America's best kids.
Damaged Special Relationship? 04:05am on 21 Sep 2009 Boredcasual-get a newspaper. France consistently attacks the US in public, creates foreign alliances against us in the UN and most importantly is hated and despised by large ammounts of the American Public.

That's why we might end up in conflict with them. America is becoming, less and less enthused with a France that seems to spend tthe majority of it's time trying to get nations to abandon the alliances that defend democracy and join them at sitting on the sidelines.

I was in Europe with the US Army in the 1980's and both the British and American Officers were shocked that nobody saw he impending doom of the massive tank divisions on the border. Europe seemed as clueless as in 1939. Their total plan was be nice to the crocodile and hope he eats you last or help feed everyone else to the crocodile.

Last I saw Russia can still drive to the Channel, as to distance protecting you from Communist China, that is a goofy defence, since the US which is pretty far from Japan didn't seem to have any problem fghting in the China, Burma, India theater on Japan's doorstep. AS to distance guranteeing safety, was that the German general staffs mistake in WWI, as reguards America.
Damaged Special Relationship? 03:18am on 19 Sep 2009 Maybe this relationship needs to be re-examined. British passports are increasingly being handed out to people who advocate violence against the U.S in particular and Democracy in general. Additionally, if Britain is part of a European Union led by France could we not come into open conflict with them? Perhaps technology and weapons exchanges are becoming unwise. It is long past the time the U.S. lay down the burden of defending Europe. Keeping the Russians and Chinese out of Europe's homes is the job of her men not ours. It is a shame, but the left on both sides of the Atlantic have ruined any relationship.
Cameron tougher on Lisbon? 5:23pm on 31 May 2009 Loved the explanation of the Bullingdon club. I really didn't think much of Mr. Cameron, before, but I think the world would be a lot more fun if it was led by more people who knew how to run a social event with style. Who made the peasants the dictators of what is and isn't fun.

He would be a good match for the Frat. boys who ussually run my own country. I think most of the South would approve, we are by nature Cavaliers, unlike our Puritan neighbors to the North in the US.

We are in the twenty-first Century, a pessimist needs a good Laser Target Designator, so his missile can fly through the correct Air vent of his enemies building or hit him on his bike. War is a dirty, ugly, brutish affair, best kept at least JDAM distance away.
A greener Germany 9:28pm on 25 May 2009 I see little point is arguing about the EU. If you are against it form an active resistance and fight it. It's not like there is a shortage of weapons in the world. Stop talking, do something.

I believe the world is going to show as much resolve as the US about stopping the spread of nukes to mad men the day after Iran nukes Saudi Arabia or someplace in Europe or Little Kim eliminates Seoul after a bad nightmare brought on by Kim-che. Pakistan is really not in the same category as these other two.

By the way Kim, for the record we do threaten other nuclear powers, we promised to nuke Pakistan into oblivion if they interferred with our pursuit of Osama on September 12th, according to President Musharaf.
A greener Germany 5:07pm on 25 May 2009 We are forced to live with North Korea, because we failed to follow Douglas MacArthur's advice and let a failed Missouri Haberdasher talk us into reasoning with them instead of nuking their Commie !@#$.

We have never attacked a nuclear armed naton, because there was never a need to. That too, could change for Iran, North Korea or a terrorist controled Pakistan.
A greener Germany 03:57am on 25 May 2009 Green is good, Green prevents us from sending money to countries and idelogies that want to kill us. That said every city needs a study on how it can maintain it's heavy industry using Green technigues, because just importing our steel and wood from some place else just makes us dependent. This is really a technology problem for us Americans. I don't see us driving smaller or less, I don't see us building smaller houses, wearing fewer clothes or shopping less. We will still be 2 and a half car families with a boat, when it's over(maybe 4 car families will be the norm if prices continue to fall). The technology is already on the way!!! At work we have Ford Escape, hybrid SUVs, most of the time they run on their electric motor, we have driven them for over 100,000 miles and their better than the vehicles they replaced, they're also bigger. We have beebn promised the new Ford Fusion hybreds and they are a large American car that gets 700 miles to a tank of gas and the factory repps say that will get even better. Boeing has just finnished testing on the new 787s Rolls Royce engines and that should really shake up the airline industry. Green is just around the corner, I mean were Americans, we can accomplish anything right??? Stand back world.
Immigration a hot topic 5:25pm on 26 Apr 2009 Maybe the EU government can eventually ensure that no actual Germans live in Germany, that it is all immigrant. How wonderful, you can be just like France and equally despised.
