Communists 2-0 Capitalists 2:09pm on 16 Aug 2008 Your comment that the statement by Davey Johnson was wrong because the ball hit the bat first is plain stupid and uninformed, step into the batters box against a decent fastball and see what happens if it's in and high on you. Add in the fact that the hitter squared up to bunt, which the pitcher can pick up usually and Davey has a point, the pitch certainly should have gone elsewhere - whether it was deliberate or not is a totally different issue. Hitters do get plunked deliberately, especially if they've gone yard earlier in the game and showed the pitcher/team up or their own pitcher has hit someone, but with a bunt on ??? I think you need to know more baseball !
