The filename that the News Ops systems (Automated Recording Of Transmission or AutoROT) creates for an archive file turns out not to be one that our weblog content management system (Movable Type) seems to enjoy, so it is now renamed and available for everyone's listening pleasure. Many thanks for the heads up.

BBC TV on the web redefined 10:02am on 17 Sep 2008 @FrankieRoberto and @fabricoffolly - my bad. I genuinely thought that Dan meant "consisting of distinct or individual parts" - ie, past present and future!

Trying to sound "Pedantic" is not helped by not having the Oxford English Dictionary on your side.

The seventh entry for "relinquish" gives "To release" and cites R Montagu from 1671: "He did relinquish him of his promise of sending any land forces".

However, since the OED gives this as obs. rare (and I suspect Montagu could have chosen a better term), it may help the more usual meaning if we don't use it in that way in this case. Cheerfully corrected!

"Immature Artists Imitate..." 1:58pm on 17 Jun 2008 That's a pity - it looks like a filter for HTML or somesuch gimgaw has removed half of chriskeene's post at #2.
