Three years in China 02:52am on 07 Jul 2009 I have been reading this page for the past 2 and a half years since I began to study China as a subject in my political studies class at school. Last summer, I travelled to Beijing with a group of friends for 3 weeks, and in 6 weeks time I will move to Shanghai and take a year out of university to teach English as a foreign language.

I have read this blog thorougly over the past 2 and a bit years and I thank you for giving me an insight into a fascinating country.

China's Olympic highlights 10:32pm on 21 Aug 2008 The Liu Xiang incident was horrific to watch, but at the same time I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen.
I genuinely felt for him at that moment, all the way from Scotland.
I'd love to say that it'll be ok because he'll win more medals in the future, and possibly London, but he'll never get another opportunity like that again.
Such a shame.
Filming me, filming you 02:29am on 15 Aug 2008 I think alot of the time the police make these protests alot more interesting for the media to cover.
The very fact there are huge white gloves infront of the camera when they try to film things they 'shouldn't' often appear to make it newsworthy.

Maybe a new technique being adopted by the party?
