is this supposed to be some sort of accomplishment? almost all american are a mix of ethnic backgrounds. in america im just white, but by your definition i'm irish, english, scottish, french, german, russian, czech, and dutch. one of the first assignments american elementary school children recieve is to go home and ask their parents what countries their ancestors came from, and then the next day in class the teacher marks on a map with pins all the countries that making up the american "melting pot." diversity of the kind you speak of is a basic premise of american life

I agree with a previous poster. As a young independent voter, in ohio, a swing state, I find it disturbing how little attention you pay to the candidacy of John McCain. In fact, when you do mention Mr. McCain I find that many times your words are tainted with a smug sense of condescension. I would suggest taking a page from the great essayist, David Foster Wallace, and try writing from a more balanced perspective.

When cultures, (and basemen), collide 2:10pm on 19 Aug 2008 youre completely leaving out the fact that the replacement chinese catcher who got sent in for the first guy was rammed even HARDER than the first by an american player barreling down the third base line. running into the catcher has always been a part of baseball. but beaming some guy in head in retribution is plain dirty. you could flat out kill the guy with a fast enough pitch.
