Your questions answered - week 12 1:20pm on 04 Oct 2009 Do you think that ultimately the five place grid-penalties was carried out is completely farcicial? Not only does it create a precedent which says that getting through to Q3 by ignoring waved yellows in Q2 could lead to a situation that is advantageous (Brawns would have qualified between 11 and 13 whereas Kubica appears to have adhered to the rules and was KO'ed), we've also got the situation where a one driver could commit an offence first, and as long as enough people following behind commit it as well a five-place penalty could move you up the grid?
Pick your classic Italian Grand Prix 1:53pm on 03 Sep 2009 2008 I thought was a special race, but it was more in terms of what actually happened than pure entertainment I thought. That race and last weekends Belgian GP have had two of the biggest feel good stories in F1 and it's good to know that small teams, with the right sets of circumstances, a handy driver and a bit of luck, can have a real go at winning these races.

I'd vote for 1988 though, another of those great weekends, where actually sometimes the result is more important than what actually happened during the race.

He stayed with Hakkinen, DC and HHF for the first 20 laps, when the rain came he was much faster. Didn't throw it off the road like Fisi or DC. It would surely have been his first win if it wasn't for that puncture.

The Watson Open 12:40pm on 20 Jul 2009 I said on the 606 forums I commented on how we seem to keep on getting these deflating finishes to the golf. We have these great stories about to have the perfect ending and then they fall flat. We've had Tom Watson so nearly win the Open, we've had David Duval and Phil Mickelson at the US Open, even the Masters felt slightly unfulfilling, what with the Mickelson/Woods charge falling apart right at the end and then Kenny Perry's explosion.

In 2008 we had Greg Norman's perhaps predictable explosion on the final day, coming a month after an admittedly great story about the wounded Tiger, but Rocco Mediate go so close and yet still fall short.

2006, we had Fred nearly win the Masters in his 40's and Winged Foot after Monty's disasters probably just pips this one in terms of the empty feeling after it.

I am no way saying that those who did win didn't deserve it, but they have kind of spoilt the mood.

Great dramas, flat endings.

Your classic German Grand Prix 1:10pm on 08 Jul 2009 One of my memories of watching the 2000 GP in the hotel bar in Malta was the Germans leaving almost en masse after the first lap after Schumacher's departure.

One of my most striking memories was that Ricardo Zonta was going to win. Closing on DC, HHF and Rubens, with all on slicks, it looked like he was in with chance. Unfortunately he got what I thought an undeserved drive-through, lost concentration and crashed.
