The Beckham of boxing? 6:39pm on 16 Apr 2009 Ben, usually a big fan of your blogs but can't help but feel that another blog has centred around taking cheap shots at Beckham. Yes some could argue that he never fulfilled his potential in an England shirt at a major tournament, but seeing as all the other "stars", bar possibly wayne rooney in 2004, have all flopped at major tournaments you could put that down to the england set u as after all he was a major force in a very successful man utd side.

also agree with other earlier posters who suggested that perhaps DLH leaving at the right time would have been a few fights earlier, however still a great fighter who attracted the big crowds and deserves the recognition he gets.

The jeers and not enough cheers in Turin 11:36pm on 08 Mar 2009 this chambers stuff is getting ridiculous, people in athletics should be jumping on the fact that when dwain was on the drugs his performances were inconsistant and often just plain poor.

Now he is running clean and focusing on his training he is not only outperforming what he did on the drugs, but he us doing this consistently.

I hate people using drugs to gain an advantage in sport and if the world policy was to give lifetime bans to drug users, then chambers would have got what he deserved, but it isn't he served his time, is helping doping testers by discussing with them how he beat the system, winning while running clean. If anything he should be being used as a role model, not a scapegoat because people are pissed off that he is still the best we have.
Toothless GB struggle without Murray 11:24pm on 06 Mar 2009 you couldn't be more right. I watched the first 2 sets of the Goodall match and the way he through away the second set tie-breaker was very disappointing 5 consecutive unforced errors on the forehand side to throw away an opening.

although the idea of third tier tennis is not an inviting prospect, on the evidence of today's performance it is where we belong without Murray. I hope I'm proved wrong over the next 2 days, but i doubt it.

On another note that you pointed out why do we not tailor the courts to our reserve players, this was commented on when boggo was still playing. If we are going to win the tie we need more than just andy's singles effort
Which sports would you add to the Games? 5:23pm on 17 Aug 2008 Ultimate Frisbee must top most people lists, it's one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Encourages competition but not at the expense of fair play, surely emcompassing the Olympic spirit?

Others to include would be either rugby 7s, Twenty20 cricket or Lacrosse as mentioned above. Only issue with cricket is that it's alread a packed schedule surely leading to the problems we currently have with the football and tennis?

Leading on to the thoughts of what should go, football, tennis simply have to go. The swimming events should be consolidated, as fantastic as phelps has been, it surely underlines the problems with having so many medals with such little differentation. Any form of shooting should be removed as it is as stupid as it is boring to watch.
Archery enters the eye of the storm 08:59am on 11 Aug 2008 just stepping aside from discussing the quality the blog for a moment(incidently i like that the blogs are used to give the emotive side of the reports, the tension in the crown, delight of the athlete etc)

how is it that williamson is picking up any praise? she was pretty poor in all 3 of GB rounds, although she did shoot brilliently at the end of the Japan contest,which has been pretty ignored by everybody because of her being her 5th Olympics and again by scoring a maximum with her final arrow is bound to cover up her low overall score against the French.

It is really odd how in this country we will jump on even the slightest mistakes in some sports yet we will defend others blindly in the face of poor performances
