Beckham gambling in Milan 11:08am on 23 Oct 2008 I think it will be good for him.Becks is now a player with a few more seasons of decent form still left in him. He plays brilliantly for England and fits into the role required-passing deep into the box and creating chances-that has always been his strong point and will be until he retires. He will play at the world cup and come on has sub when the game is looking like it needs more balls into the box. He is good at being a sunstitute playe now-he knows he has lost a starting place and seems ok with it-he just wants to play for England.
look at Solskjaer at United who made a decent career out of sub performnaces or Crouch at Liverpool who came on as a sub alot and always treid his best and create chases in the time he was on the pitch.good luck to beckham and I hope he gets to bow out of international football at the world cup.
Remembering Beijing 1:55pm on 16 Oct 2008 to icbrown-I think you will find it was not just London that had a parade and acknowledgment of the athletes achievments. I live in Manchester and there was a huge trun out in Albert Square for all our local athletes and other ciries did the same for thier home-grown talent. What about the reception Cardiff gave Nicole Cooke and others and Mansfield for Rebecca Adlington? I think you should reconsider your neagtive stance and just applaud these sportspeople wherever the celebrations take place(the Queen is based in London and she is on the one holding the reception.)
Remembering Beijing 1:42pm on 16 Oct 2008 If I had to choose(trust me, I was adddicted to the Olympics this year and applaud all of the athletes so it has been hard) I would like to go with Rebecca Adlington. she just seems such a lovely, grounded girl who is passionate about her sport and takes all the media attention in her stride.
I think thats why i like her more than some pthers and thats he is a female too.
I have to mention Victoria Pendleton also as she has such amzing determination and coming back from the dissapointment in Athens to destroy her rivals in Beijing like that is brilliant. I am rpoud to be Bristish and got all teary when I simply saw them compete, sport does that to me!
Paralympic Fever? 3:39pm on 02 Sep 2008 I am really looking forward to the Paralympic Games and I don't hink they have anything to porve but to go out and do their best-they can take thier inspiration from Team GB but most importantly from themselves for reaching international competing standard even with a disability.
I will be cheering you all on just as much as I did with Team GB-GOOD LUCK everyone!
Gold confirms Cooke's cycling talent 7:23pm on 10 Aug 2008 Nicole was fabulous today.what a determined ride. I had the privilege of meeting her at the 2002 Commonwealth Games when she won road gold and i worked at the velodrome and Bolton where the race took place. she was lovely, hard working and genuinely proud and honoured to compete for her country.Olympic gold-WELL DONE!
