London bans plastic water bottles 7:22pm on 28 Aug 2008 I grew up with hard water in the rural Midlands. I now live in Scotland and have soft water. Having always happily drunken tap water I was surprised at how unappetising it tastes down south. On return up here I can appreciate the taste of soft water.

Unless there are signs specifically telling you it isn't safe to, I top up my water bottle with tap water in toilets (although there isn't always a public loo available).

In many places there are dried up public drinking fountains -particularly from the temperance movement. It would be wonderful if these could flow again.
The etiquette of the non-plastic tea run 11:58am on 01 Aug 2008 Why not take your own cup along to the tea bar? I'm sure they won't mind -so long as it's not a pint mug!
