What on earth are you basing this little nugget of information on. Has someone let you know the actual extent of the derivatives overhang and the liabilities of all financial institutions throughout the world or have you just spilt the guts of a chicken?

How can we ask the free market to operate correctly when the banks don't have to follow free market accounting rules(Mark to Market). This is what is causing the perverse market conditions and is causing the real economy to detach from the la la land economy. I believe that Geitner, Bernanke, Bush and OBAMA are all complicit in this fraud.

Sorry I'm just being daft - maybe we should just repatriate people who came here in more recent times - perhaps all those who came over with William the conqueror can go back to France, anyone with a viking sounding name will be sent back to Scandinavia. Not so stressed 6:18pm on 10 May 2009 Governments of the world have pumped so much money into the system that the ones who know how the system works are busy gorging themselves at the expense of the real economy. That is why there is a huge disconnection between the markets and the real economies of the world.

If I ran the banking system and the Americans had pumped $800billion TARP money in, I think I would get all the banks to agree to lend their cuts of the TARP to rival banks. This way using a fractional reserve of 200:1 I could create money to the tune of $140Trillion out of thin air. If all the banks bought government debt, which is one of the things that is still being traded then they could pay the TARP money back immediately. Paid back out of thin air!!
The journalists throughout the world would ignore this fact and would get everyone to discuss, I dunno MPs expenses say - or some other unimportant drivel.
Funny how all the banks now insist that they were never in any trouble and want to pay the TARP off immediately. What a crock!!

These blogs really do make us take our eyes off of the ball.

because if they did make a distinction they would have to sort out the derivatives mess to allow the seperation of function from the retail banks and they don't have the first idea how to. In fact the only thing they are doing is waiting for all the toxic paper to become valuable again - as if it will!

Sorry I forgot - we are all waiting until they become worth something again and we all become fabulously wealthy once more. Don't report anything that the lower orders don't need to know about Robert and we will keep you in scoops for years
