What do women really want? 7:51pm on 14 Oct 2009 Is this wishful thinking by someone of a certain religeous persuasion?
By that I mean someone who believes in "Go forth and Multiply"...indefinitely!
Map of the Week: Cheese 4:51pm on 03 Oct 2009 Its great to see farmers fighting back againt the free market fundamentalists who want to see our food production go the same way as our manufacturing:overseas! I'm sure that they could find a use for all that lovely building land being wasted on food production.Long live local food!
How England can win the Ashes 7:23pm on 10 Aug 2009 Having watched,listened to and played cricket for over 30 years I feel like this is Groundhog Day again.How many times have I seen the call for veterans to be bought back,Cowdrey,Close,Gatting to name just a few.The only one I can really remember having any success was David Steel and he was an ageing debutante rather than an old timer.The Aussie bowlers finally found length and line,we batted poorly!Bopara was built up by the media but has been crushed by Aussie intensity,as many of us thought he would.Remember Graeme Hick? The bowling has been very patchy at best,bringing back Harmison was always a bad idea,especially with the season of his true love-football,almost here.Those,like Atherton and others who preach about central contracts being wonderful and too much first class cricket,were looking vindicated a year or two ago but now we are seeing the old problem of players unable to step up to the highest level.They do play too much cricket,that is one day and silly cricket!The Aussies don't play much state cricket but play grade cricket which isn't far short.Bowlers need to bowl and batsman need to bat.Oh and come to think of it don't the public deserve to see top players in county cricket?
Convincing the rebels 5:01pm on 24 Feb 2009 Well!Well!Well! My Noble Lord Mandelson comes to the rescue! Bypassing that tiresome House of Commons,our unelected hero does his stuff again before vanishing into some cushy new career path.We seem to have two and a half Conservative parties running things.I have a better idea,as Royal Mail is losing volume to the internet why not let it invest into a telecoms company like say,BT.We could call the amalgamation the GPO,hows that for an idea.Sorry! I forgot only the banks qualify for socialist policies.
Whales swim backwards 7:27pm on 23 Feb 2009 We should not kill a creature in such a cruel way for one thing. If whale meat is acceptable for a few than everyone has the right to eat it and within a few years whales will be facing extinction again! Human greed needs to be controlled if those of us who have morality are not to be damned in the future, for standing by and doing nothing while the selfish and callous amongst us rape the planet!

ECB hit for six by Stanford 8:54pm on 18 Feb 2009 I Mr Bose,your critics have missed the point somewhat,Whether Stanford is guilty of corruption or not, such exhibition matches in an all ready intense international programme do nothing for cricket as a whole.It would be nice to revive the game in the Americas for instance,but couldn't the relevant boards achieve this by a more conventional route?I fear heads were turned by the Texan dollar!
Rio, China and British investors 09:30am on 14 Feb 2009 We have now had 30 years of unfettered Thatcherism and what a mess we are now in.There is however a darker tyranny to come,a power unburdened by the costs of a free society,China-a Thatcherite dictatorship!We could hope that its people rise up but there is no guarantee that they will in the short term

If you chop down more it will become even drier.
As for putting people first,the sensible thing would be to build below ground.
Attenborough on Darwin 6:19pm on 01 Feb 2009 I am glad the backlash against the religeous cranks has such a powerful ally in DA.Creationism deserves its place in the dustbin of history along with some of the selfish hypocrites and politicians particularly,who promote it.
