Pietersen will bring a new style of leadership 10:12am on 05 Aug 2008 Does anyone know why the selectors had to make a decision in such a rush anyway?

Strauss could esaily have taken over for the Oval test. KP would have been standing in for Collingwood for the next 3 ODI games anyway so could have finshed the series.

They could then have taken a considered and informed decision at the same time as selecting the touring teams for the winter.

The selectors look like they are as much "rabiits in the headlights" as the players have been recently.

The only happy people will be the marketing team who will think they can sell a lot more shirts.

I hope KP grows into the role and proves my doubts to be ill-founded.

MV has been a great captain but he needs a rest and the team need a change. I cannot beleive we are going to pick KP, it will repeat the Flintoff error (is is just to sell more shirts!). Strauss did a great job 2 years ago and was very badly treated then, he really deserves the chance now. Collingwood will be a better player for standing down as well.

Personally I think fast bowlers should never be captain and neither should all-rounders, they have a enough to do.

For the next test I think Sidebottom needs a rest and Broad has just had one, so an obvoius swap and Shah should come in for Vaughn. As a Bears fan I would like Ambrose to have a longer run but understand that he needs to show more with the bat.
Finals day suggests England's got talent 12:55pm on 27 Jul 2008 I agree with "jimmytcfc". Very disappointing ground - so may things were good - seating, view, quantity of food and drinks outlets and the service. However, the crush behind the stands was appalling and probably a safety hazard. Access to the ground is poor, we were staying at the Holiday Inn for the night so we were spared the worst of the chaos. Why build a new ground and get these things wrong?. 20/20 finals at Trentbridge and Edgbaston have been superb days. Those at the Oval and the Rose Bowl disappointing. Let's keep one final in the Midlands. Lords can have the others.
