The Watson Open 1:18pm on 20 Jul 2009 You have to feel sorry for Cink, if there was any time he would have benn happy to lose, yesterday was probably it.

I'm with leahelliemorris on this, it was still one hell of a story and I am so glad to have seen it unfold. The putts that Watson mades all week were extraordinary, the way he came back from the huge setback of five bogeys on Friday morning was incredible. And the way he conducted himself was exemplary, courteous, good humoured, Tiger could learn a lesson or two from that. Maybe he could also learn that it's not always necessary to thrash the life out of the ball - a smoothe swinger like Tom can still get it done.

Watsons a legend and long may he compete in the Open. (They let Arnie doddle around Augusta long enough, surely Tom earned a few more Opens this week?)

Dilemma looming for Fisher 00:40am on 19 Jul 2009 Fisher was silly, he should have taken the Simon Shaw route and had his wife induced so he could concentrate on the golf! Here's his article where he reveals he had this done in the run up to the world cup, as well as systematically ripping Woodward a new one.

I hope Fisher does well tomorrow, but I think we'd all rather see Old Tom Watson win wouldn't we? I would.

Can't see the Woods for the lenses 4:32pm on 16 Jul 2009 Egads, I could have had Watson each way at 1500-1 last night, but I persuaded myself it was a fools bet. Why would I ever doubt Tom Watson of all people!

In future I shall remember that this is how golf works, crazy stories occur week in week out, Amateurs winning here, guys who were almost paralysed coming back to get another green jacket there, why if a 53 year old can finish third last year can't a 59 year old get in the top even this! And who did i put the silly bet on instead, Michael bleeding Campbell...

Cabrera's tenacity makes the difference 3:37pm on 13 Apr 2009 The best final day at the master that I can remember, largely down to Phil Mickelsons submlime early play and return to the puttting frailties which have dogged him at Augusta for so long. And I'm glad after seeing Tiger thread the needle so many times through the trees, that finally he did what we all do when we try to do the same and twatted it off a tree trunk. He is mortal after all.

And is it me or did Sam Torrance have money on Cabrera, he tipped him the other day and got very excited every time he did anything after that. I think ol Sam has made a few this weekend.

Chase hots up as Player bows out 1:29pm on 11 Apr 2009 I loved Fuzzy trotting off with tears in his eyes at the end and what a shot he produced at the 16th.

And Player, what a hero - he spent years playing second fiddle to Jack and Arnold who seemed to get the lions share of the crowds love. To be only one over after nine holes on thursday at the age of 73, at a monster like Augusta, that's just incredible. The best advertisement you could get for keeping yourself fit into old age. What a playist.

Poor Rory, no matter what happened this year, there would always be a point that he would be getting accused of inexperience. Up until the 16th he was rocking along rightly, you can't make your debut at Augusta without it catching you out at some point. He'll be out early and he'll be in the top twenty come the end of the day I reckon.

Why majors define a player's stature 2:01pm on 09 Apr 2009 So many stories in this tournament, there's usually one or two but here we have tiger's comeback, the paddy slam, big phil chasing No.1 status, Rory, Player's last hurrah, Norman's return AND Sandy Lyle storming around moaning about not being Ryder Cup captain, again...

It's a cracker before it's even started!

Under the tree with Beefy 1:58pm on 09 Apr 2009 Ah come on, has no one spotted the outrageous form that Gary Player is in, I mean he had a hole in one in the par 3 tournament, admittedly it was his third shot after putting it in the water but it was just as hard to do. He's making a mockery of 10,000-1 odds for the tournament, put a monkey on him, you can't lose!!

Nice article Robin, isn't it stimp-METER though? And surely everyone who's watched the masters knows about their green sand or "stuff" as you call it, even Gary Linker knows that and from the inane questions he asks each year, it seems he knows little about golf beyond what it's like to play a round with Darren Clarke. Bring back Steve Ryder, all is forgiven!

And Oliver Wilsons favourite bar in college was in Augusta, I'm sre he took his studies very seriously indeed.
