Completely ridiculous. We do not imprison, torture, and kill Scots and Irish for religious and polictical beliefs... or for crossing the border to another country.

Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own parliments and control over their affairs. Prime Minister Gordon Brown is Scottish! Sorry, but there is no much demand for independance there, but you are welcome to come here and protest for them if you want.

Dont worry, teaching the Chinese the truth about Tibet is pointless, the CCP and CCTV propoganda machine is working far too well. Hopefully in time you will realise why your government is hiding so much information. I know many Tibetans, the lucky ones who have escaped to a better life in India and the rest of the world.

Actually China invaded Tibet in 1950 and India in 1962, "unprovoked". Oh off course China waited until the British had left India before they did this. If only the British were successful in colonising Tibet, their country would be free from Chinese oppression now.

In the latest signal that China's leaders will tolerate no dissent during the Games, Wu Dianyuan, 79, and Wang Xiuying, 77, were interrogated for 10 hours and sentenced to one year of "Reeducaton Through Labour," said Wu's son Li Xuehui".

But who cares, China won lots of gold right. I hope its been worth it...
Filming me, filming you 10:07am on 15 Aug 2008 I think most people are misunderstanding the slogan Free Tibet. The Dalai Lama and Tibetan people realise that independance is not an option, but the freedom they want is of culture,religion and real autonomy.

1) China should withdraw the troops,
2) let the Dalai Lama return to his people,
3) stop interfering in the buddhist religion and the monastaries.
4) Release all policitial prisoners
5) Put in real investment to help the Tibetans, not just the resettled Han Chinese.
6) Halt the "patriotic re-education" or brainwashing as we like to call it.
7) Release the real Panchan Lama if he is still alive.

This is not an unreasonable request is it?

Then China can continue taking the natural resources away, which is the real reason why they want Tibet so much.

Are you suggesting we print everything in a 100 languages?

The language of Great Britain is English, however if you go to Wales you will find everything is in Welsh, as well as English. It is even taught in schools.

Ethnic minorities are respected here and religious freedom exists. We celebrate St. Patricks, Divali, Ede and even Chinese New Year. Are Tibetans allowed to celebrate Losar freely?

We will not just forget Tibet as you wish, this religious and cultural persecussion has to stop. If China is to be accepted as a civilised country by the rest of the world, then this situation needs to be resolved peacefully.

People dont just riot for no reason, Tibetans are fed up with the Chinese rule. Why do so many make the perilous journey, risking their lives to cross the himilayas for freedom.

I saw the BBC documentry and as well you know if anyone spoke out against the communist party they would be imprisoned for a very long time. The monastaries and monks are closely controlled.

Perhaps you should research the Drapchi Nuns who were recently in the UK, who were imprisoned and tortures for years for peaceful protesting and recording songs.
Why are their so many thousands of monks, nuns and ordinary people protesting everyday in India and Nepal, perhaps you should listen to their stories.

And Terry, my son is half Tibetan so this is very close to home and my research is much more than watching a BBC documentry.

And if you went to someones house for a party and in the cellar there was a Tibetan monk imprisoned there, being tortured for his beliefs, would you eat your cake and keep quiet?
Opening ceremony cool - for some 11:09am on 11 Aug 2008 I didn't watch any of that nonsense, however I would expect it to be fantastic after they spent £50million on it!!!

What a complete waste of money, especially considering the poverty and problems in China. You cant even build schools properly! Sichuan needs to be rebuilt after the earthquakes.
What about all the migrant workers that have not been paid for months of work then kicked out of the city.
What about the lack of investment in Tibet for Tibetan people (yes the Han get all the benefits there).

There is no way the people of London would allow such a huge amount of money to be wasted in this way.
