It would not matter if a Buddhist monk was the Leader of the Labour Party at this moment in time, they are just totally unelectable!

The Labour Party has this inbuilt problem, which is the self destruct button - someone, somewhere, within the party, every so often wishes to press it, but the effects last for years

This is a time when the Country needs the Government to lead us - Yes some of it is of their own making, but we need them to lead! Not to once again self destruct

We know what the future holds while the fighting continues within Labour - The BNP comes to the fore, and although that will not apply to Scotland just now, if it continues to breed then it just might in a few years time!

How many MPs who did lodge claims - and paid back , although still trying to say they did wrong - are going to resign?

Not one, but as you state, get rid of the Speaker - everyone knows its the easy option, the fall guy mentality - and all THEIR problems will disappear!

Not a Chance! Voters know about these things, and there will be a back lash at the ballot box - Because it applies to every Political party - They are all guilty - They should hang there heads in shame!

Its hardly surprising that they did not wish to take on the "Bankers" following their disgrace greed - How come our MPs appear to be able to "Get away" with it - Why are they not being charged at this very minute by the Police for fraud? Are they above the law? Is HMRC going to be paying them a visit shortly?
Lets hope so - that way they will all be in prison and unable to stand for re-election!!

It would not matter what part of the UK this Government came to! They would get the same response - Call a general election and let the people have their say

It a tired, sad looking government, that is doing exactly as the Tories did following their 18 years of being in power

1997 was suppose to bring a new beginning, but like ALL politicians - they failed to deliver

Good luck to Brown & Co in Glasgow, its probably the last place in the UK that can definately say with some conviction that the Blind will be leading the Blind!

Concencus is Catching - its just a pity that the Labour party failed to grasp this when they became the opposition party following the election of a minority government
Politicans should remember that they are there to serve the voters - first and foremost - the party should be second - not the other way about
Let us hope that this Concensus continues for the remainder of this Parliament, that way the People of scotland will be the Winners!

Sorry to hear about NCR and its impact on the fair people of Dundee

Let us hope that our politicians unite in finding not only them but the thousands who have lost their jobs recently, some meaningful employment.

As for the City of Dundee, a great City and one that will prosper in the future, as I'm sure that the whole country will.

Once again the few bad apples within the financial services - Madoff pleads guilty to £50 BILLION fraud - are bringing not only this Country but the whole World to its knees, through SHEER GREED

When are elected officials going to wake up to who they are suppose to be representing?
Not the few who seek to profit from the World's woes, but the average law abiding citizen just trying to make their way in the World and who elect these people to look after our Interests.

I hope the people of Dundee and the Country remember this when it comes to casting their vote.

You are correct about one thing - how many of these unelected bodies with no clout will be established to achieve absolutely nothing, while paying the members of these quangos thousands of pounds, but unable to deliver the desired result!!

Back to the Police - Always difficult as you says - who puts what spin on what figures/words!

My take is that why stop at 1000 extra officers - why not 2000?

Labour had choices to making during their term of Office - like most things - they screwed it up - Glasgow East being the perfect example - they still have slum housing there! No wonder the people are fed up of Labour - NuLab - and want rid of them!

Bring on the elections - as they say you can't fool the people all of the Time !!

Once again the party politics come to the fore!

And once again its the people of Scotland, but Fife in particular that continues to suffer

When Beeching cut the railways, this killed whole communities with one cut - These are only now starting to get back to what it used to be - They now have transport links which enable them to compete in the wider markets, so why play politics with these same people?

The Victorians built huge railways, bridges, infrustructures, which we in this modern life of ours, have destroyed! Learn the lessons and give the people what they need - Not just crossings over a stretch of water, but tunnels, roads, railways, schools, a standard of life suitable in the 21st century!

Politicians need to be honest with the people, and start spending our taxes wisely, for the benefit of the majority, not those who appear to profit from these schemes!
