That deal only affect homes where a drop in income has occurred, a different deal is in place where household income is ZERO. i.e. they pay the interest on the mortgage for 2 years, it used to be indefinately but was changed by gordo.

Old rules were pay interest after 9 months indefinately

new rules are pay interest after 3 months but only for 24 months

It claims to pay out after 1 month, its a fixed payment of 1400 / month for 12 months.

Re Gordon,

You are correct, they pay thew interest after so many days (cannot remember how many) however as you would most likely have a redundancy deal - it's not a hassle.

So,

For 70 / month, am I getting peace of mind?

They already charge us by way of the difference between the interest they PAY you on your savings and the interest they CHARGE you for any outstanding loans (including mortgages).

To suggest that they should CHARGE us for access to our money (that was EARNED and not CREATED from THIN AIR) is outrageous!

You have taken your eye off the ball, these institutions are both morally and financially bankrupt. How DARE they charge US, after WE bailed them out.

Why did Bank of England keep shtoom? 12:25pm on 25 Nov 2009 I am beginning to think the UK banking system was deliberately sabotaged. Some Spanish banks that received ECB cash have done rather nicely out of the mess (that was engineered)
