Appetite for fat cat taxes? 3:39pm on 30 Nov 2009 This is another half baked policy. Those with high mortgages will pay the same as those with no mortgage. Those with more than one house each worth less than £2m will pay nothing. And worst of all, once they get this type of tax through then it won't be long before they alter the cap...£1.5m... £1.0m...£750,000....£500,000 etc. Just remamber what happened to stamp duty when Gordon Brown needed more cash. It went from 1% to 4%.
Can we afford the carriers? 10:42am on 30 Jun 2009 How about a balanced piece on the record fall in GDP and how that will alter government spending and tax raising plans or would that risk your access?

Or perhaps you might speculate on where tax rises are most likely to occur after the election and offer suggestions as to which would hurt the economy least? We've all read about the data build up on our houses and the possibility of higher taxes there? How likely is that? Will you please ask Brown and Darling? Or VAT? Will that be the preffered route?

We all know what's got to happen, let's get it out there and forget the odd ship. It was an obvious ploy to promise spending on carriers to get Scottish votes and then freeze it but we aren't all daft.
We get £2.3bn back from Lloyds 5:49pm on 05 Jun 2009 I read in the FT today that Martin Wolf calculates the government is forecast to spend £4 for every £3 it raises in tax. Why don't you mention that instead of struggling madly to find good news for Labour? How much difference will £2.3bn make against the massive debt Labour are digging us into? What percentage reduction will this paltry sum will make to the debt mountain?

With you out of town your stand-ins have totally failed to report one of the best political speeches I have heard in ages. What is it with the BBC that they keep this sort of thing quiet? Perhaps you might give it a mention yourself, perhaps even play a clip?

Beating up the banks 5:11pm on 30 Jan 2009 You are far too polite to be allowed to interview people. You let GB get away with murder the other morning - chivvy you not. Boom and Bust was but a small hit in what should have been a devastating interview. He got away with far too much. There are people out here losing their houses, jobs, pensions, savings, families and you let him rabbit on while the bloated state is ever increasing and a tsunami of tax is about to engulf us all - after the election, naturally. Are you not, perhaps, a little too pally with him? Hasn't that closeness disarmed you?

Brown's lot can't be allowed to have their cake and eat it, they already get away with far too much manipulation with their endless empty announcements which too often the BBC slavishly carries. About time a BBC editor questioned the wisdom of swallowing such PR hype or challenged the nonsense.

One example of lazy or indulgent journalism was the reported improvement in education results. Yeh, right|, half the nation leave school unable to read, write and add up. Some improvement. What was the BBC journo on, Labour Kool Aid? He should have headlined the story with Labour failure and millions squandered. I wonder why he didn't.
We are the banks 12:46pm on 24 Dec 2008 The other BIG story in 2009 will be the MASSIVE amount of money the government will be squandering in order to boost its chances of winnng the next election using Keynes/ the recession, as its cover.

And the biggest UNSPOKEN story after that in 2009 will be the way the BBC fails to point out the waste and misuse of our money because so many of its journalists are dependant upon Labour for their stories and access.

I would like to see more, sorry, some analysis of the effectiveness of this massive squandering of our children's future - goevernment pensions, PFi etc etc. Fat chance.
Giant borrowing payback looms 9:05pm on 21 Nov 2008 "WE'VE MADE MISTAKES" is hardly apology enough for the hundreds of thousands - millions - who are going to suffer by losing their jobs, self-respect and even their homes. How Brown can even be considered the right person do lead us out of this mess is beyond me. It was Brown who encouraged the massive debt people have taken on, stupidly, and allowed the banks and building societies to drown them in it. Let's have an election now and, hopefully, get rid of him.
Taxes to fall and then rise 5:02pm on 21 Nov 2008 Perhaps now, all those who resent the fat city slickers with their big bonuses will have a re-think - we need their huge bonuses so we can milk them. Perhaps we can have a Bring Back The Fat Cats campaign?
