Food is inexpensive in the UK too. Please don’t give produce some poll as their figures are always wildly different to reality. Our family spends less than 8% of our income on food.

Fresh food? Well, most people I know grow their own veg these days. Can you get fresher than that?

I've never understood why the weather is seen as a problem. If you told a couple of aliens that they could either live in a country which is arid, hot and prone to drought (I don't necessarily mean Oz) or a country where the temperature never reaches an excess and all-year-round rain provides ideal conditions for growing crops, I'm sure they'd choose the latter. I've heard the British weather described as a plus point for foreigners from hot countries.

Indeed, just like your media spent weeks commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Rape of Nanjing in 2007 (which was many years before Tiananmen). But of course this helps to foster patriotism by attacking the Japanese whereas remembering Tiananmen may weaken CCP power.

When does old age begin? 8:40pm on 21 May 2009 "Do not judge a person's age by western standard, we Chinese look much younger than our actual age". An interesting point, but I have always found the opposite to be true - unfortunately. I've stopped guessing the age of Chinese now having over-estimated frequently.
