Will you pay for a Digital Britain? 6:45pm on 23 Sep 2009 Absolutely right. It's not a broadband tax, it's a telephone tax. Much like the TV license it's already an outdated idea that stretches far beyond its means. At the very least they should curtail it to those with actual broadband connections. If they have to implement it, why not implement a staged system relevant to the broadband speeds you're actually getting? Or is that too techy for the digital minister to understand?
Three years in China 10:05pm on 08 Jul 2009 vinelife. what makes your truth truer than mine? I don't doubt there are issues in China. But there are also issues in the UK, US and all over the world. Yet what's blogged here is a sneering superior view from someone who expects nothing less than a Utopian society. At no point did I believe I could take these reports without feeling the need to balance them out with the overall picture. Your "Truth" as you put is only a small part of the picture, one which you seem to be missing.

You've simply reinforced a western impression of a foreign society, whilst not really persuading (rather offending) the Chinese readers. I can't say I've really been enlightened about how China "works". I only feel the British sense of superiority prevalent in all these posts. Hope you make a better job of your next posting.

He unfairly singled her out over expenses when two of his cronies are accused of the exact same thing. GB isn't a leader, he's a small schoolkid who's throwing his toys out of the pram and slowly realising that no-ones giving them back

The right qualifications 1:56pm on 05 May 2009 Great article highlighting the thought process behind the two governments. One's full of politicians, the other's full of people with at least a semblance of required skills. It's no wonder China is riding out the economy better than most, whilst Britain under Gordon Brown...well, less said the better

Whispers of the Dalai Lama 12:59pm on 12 Mar 2009 Another pointless "Tibet" story. It's hardly surprising that China claims that "Tibet" is used as a stick to beat China over Human rights issues. It's like the only people that live in Tibet are monks!
As far as I can tell, the CCP has good reason to believe that the Dalai Llama is a wolf in monks clothing. As far as I knew, the guy doesn't even beleive in hell right? It's time for the Dalai Llama to retire gracefully. There's no chance of resolution with him at the helm, no matter what his celebrity supporters think.
China: All about jobs 7:14pm on 04 Mar 2009 Great to see you becoming a social expert on Chinese culture on the day you land Robert. Now how about getting back to England and commenting on the situation here, where we don't even have the variety of manufacturing jobs to hold us in good stead anymore!
Tough words on human rights 11:49pm on 27 Feb 2009 Guantanamo bay certainly weakened the US' moral stance. It's foreign policy leaves a lot to be desired. The US needs to follow China's lead and look internally before looking externally. Whereas with China, although it does have a long way to go I'm given the impression (despite plenty of negative reporting) that its leaders understand what needs to be done and are slowly working their way there.

P.s. When the US' critique on China was published, this appeared on both the Asia and Americas pages of the BBC, yet China's critique only appears on the Asia page. For neutralisms sake, shouldn't this appear on both again?
