Bill Frindall (1939-2009) 5:31pm on 30 Jan 2009 This is such a sad day for me. I feel as though I have lost a great friend. TMS will not be the same again.

My condolences to all his family.
Remembering Beijing 8:28pm on 16 Oct 2008 The performance that pleased me most - Bradley Wiggins winning the individual pursuit. He set out his stall beforehand about wanting to win the gold medal and then delivered. I screamed the house down.

And without doubt the team pursuit win was pure class - a faultless display. 4 men in harmony with each other and with their machines.

But I think the best performance was Nicole's Cooke's. I watched the race and she kept putting herself in the right place. Then there was one moment near the end when I though she had been dropped and with pure strength and determination she pulled it back and won. Just the most exciting performance!
Dealing with demons after defeat 11:49am on 20 Aug 2008 Use the experience, come out of it stronger, dont let the demons sit on your shoulder and get you down. You know what you have to do for the future - go for it!

Three gold medals - and I'm shattered 09:47am on 20 Aug 2008 Chris, congratulations. I wish I had words to express how wonderful it has been watching your performances.

I cheered Jason in Sydney, you in Athens and was devastated when I realised you would not be able to defend your title. I was a bit short-sighted there! The way you have changed to the sprint and keirin is inspiring.

The pressure you have been under for the last couple of years since it became clear you were a medal favourite must have been immense. You have met all the challenges and been a real ambassador for all that is good in sport.

All best wishes for whatever you do in the future - and have a good break and holiday. If I ever have the honour of meeting you, the first round is on me!
Paula deserves praise and plaudits 4:28pm on 18 Aug 2008 I think a lot of the reaction has been caused because it is felt, rightly or wrongly, that Paula Radcliffe was given special treatment that would not have been given to other UK athletes.

The other cause for complaint, which I share 100%, is the amount of coverage that Paula has been given. To have the marathon on as the second item in the highlights show last night when we had gold medal winners in other sports was an insult to those competitors and their sports.

Paula has been an inspiration to people. That was when she WON. Not that many people knew much or cared much about her until she started doing that. So let us concentrate the coverage on those sportsmen and women who will inspire the next generation. And if evidence of this is needed, remember Bradley Wiggins (multiple medal winner!) was inspired by seeing Chris Boardman win.
Tweddle's Olympic dream ended by 0.025 4:04pm on 18 Aug 2008 I did not believe I would ever see a British gymnast capable of competing at the top level until Beth came along. She has indeed been an ambassador for the sport in the UK. She went for a tough routine, tried her best, but sadly it didnt work out on this occasion.

I wish her all the best for whatever she decides to do in the future. Personally I hope she doesnt retire yet, but I can well understand her wanting to live a more normal life without the pressures of training and competing.
Paula deserves praise and plaudits 7:27pm on 17 Aug 2008 I do NOT believe it. The second item on the highlights programme after the rowing is the women's marathon and Paula Ratcliffe! Did I miss something or didnt two British women cycle off for gold and silver today? Didnt Ben Ainsley get his third gold at the Olympics? Didnt the women get gold in the sailing today? Or was that some other day???

This is beyond a joke. OK include her at some point but Paula was NOT a highlight today. Seeing people performing at their peak is.

This coverage convinces me that the media at least think the public prefer "plucky losers" to winners. I think they are completely off their rockers.
Paula deserves praise and plaudits 12:23pm on 17 Aug 2008 Would Paula Radcliffe been allowed to compete under prepared and unfit if she had been a member of the GB cycling team??? Perhaps that explains the difference between the athletes and the cycling teams!

If there had been no-one else available (like the case of Michaela Breeze) I could have understood her running, but we had another athelete who was denied the chance of showing her best at the Olympics.
Hoy the pick of GB's golden bunch 10:19pm on 16 Aug 2008 Just pause for a moment and think....... There is a realistic chance of Hoy getting 3 gold medals AND Bradley getting 3 gold as well - and both of them have gold medals from previous Games! I think I may wake up at some point and find this is a dream.

The thing that most impresses me is that the cycling team have been so well prepared and both Hoy and Wiggins were so confident before the event. Also the cycling team is not resting on the shoulders of a couple of exceptional men - and they are exceptional! - but there are youngsters like Burke coming up too!
Hoy the pick of GB's golden bunch 7:53pm on 16 Aug 2008 Hoy in the Keirin was jaw-droppingly amazing! To watch so much power and speed unleashed is incredible. He is a great ambassador for cycling, Scotland and Britain.
