It's all in the ... 5:03pm on 20 Oct 2009 Wow, Mapexx, what a lovely example of nasty intolerant BNP style racism - tell a longtime resident of Wales, and a veteran anti-racism campaigner who fought apartheid when the tories supported it to go *home* because you disagree with him on a matter of devolved governance.
How enlighetened.
One could not ask for a better example of the true nature of the anti-Welsh and anti-devolution brigade than that.

Follow the leader 1:35pm on 16 Oct 2009 Good on you Betsan for continuing to give a forum for these repetitive pathological trolls who can't seem to say anything but 'King Rhodri', NATS (in capitals of course), 'abolish the assembly', 'the vast majority', 'welsh-speaking elitists', etc.
I wonder, do you guys have some sort of obsessive compulsive disorder , the verbal equivalent of touching everything in your bedroom thirty-seven times before going to sleep, that means you need to say the same things, in the same ways, on the same blog, day after day, regardless of the subject?
What a sad, bilious tribe of failures you are, talking to yourselves and hiding from those you spend your lives smearing.
Anyway, the point surely about the endorsement of Edwina by Touhig and Murphy is that you'd have expected them to endorse Lewis. Why they don't is a key question, given their closeness to Lewis's wife, who is the AM for Murphy's constituency. If one can answer that then I think one has the dynamic of the contest. It will also be very interesting to see what these so-called big guns do if the party chooses Carwyn. They will effectively have been shown up.
Who knows, maybe they'll join the tories? Or start to contribute to this blog with whacko false names like Mapexx and LegendaryAvocet and NoahSembly. And our surreal friend Stoney the aphasic poet. What a wheeze!

It's goodbye from him 5:18pm on 01 Oct 2009 I hate to be pedantic, but can you tell me what Westminster government has done for Wales?
On th eone hand you complain that the Assembly doesn't have enough powers, and on the other you think it's got too many.
You say the Scottish parliament is better but then complain that even limited devolution is too much.
Which is it?
The Welsh Assembly is being blamed for massive scale uselessness on the part of 18 years of tory rule , which decimated Wales, and 12 years of Labour rule, in which things got worse.
The major decisions are still made by an expensive, tribal and inept Westminster cabal of people pandering to the SE of England. It costs 5 times more to have aMP than a AM. That's before you look at the billions it takes to run Westminster's buildings, staff, canteens and bars, etc.
If you want to abolish the Assembly, then go ahead and try to get a referendum on that, because there ain't one on the cards.
The referendum, if it happens, will be on whether you want to be run (badly) by a London cabal of toffs and NuLab clones, or whether you want a Wales-based assembly with enough powers to be actually deserving of the misuse of powers you try to impute to it.
It seems rather unfair to blame it for not having powers, then blame it for everything that's gone wrong in Wales since those Celtic gerbils first arrived.
Some of you have this pathological sense that you're ruled by the Welsh Assembly. You're not. You're ruled by a clique of people in Westminster who are desperate to butter up millionaire donors, tabloid newspapers and Southern England constituencies. Get over it.
As Labour's election supremo Mandelson said last week : 'British elections are won and lost in the South east of England'. I think that gives you a sense of where Wales fits in.

Sheer poetry, Stoney, sheer poetry. Generations of critics will be poring over that nugget of lyrical wisdom. It's good to see an old-fashioned bard still putting our treasured English language through its paces in these dark bilingual days. It's when I read comments like those that I know we English-speaking Welsh have the very highest calibre of surrealists in our midst.

We know of course that Noah and his chums prefer to use this blog as a pretext to air views on the genetic and cultural superiority of English speakers, and generally to display their minority-hating views in ways that would make the BNP proud. Which is why any blog article by Betsan that can't be used as a pretext for said airing of said views is automatically deemed as irrelevant or interesting.

Here's some news for you Noah: just because you and the cranks aren't posting your regulation 8 times a day doesn't mean the topic is boring. Because if you think that seeing 8 messages from Stoney, Wilko, Westy and the crew is a sign of a vibrant political issue of the day then you're in la-la-land.

You guys are priceless. I am glad my license fee is going towards your therapy.

Still, as the post is about Edwina Hart rather than Welsh, here's my tuppence worth: Edwina Hart has been managing arguably the hardest job in Welsh politics with, depending on who you speak to, competence or incompetence. This presumably means that he track record on health will be serious baggage or serious benefit. I'd have thought working that out was more important than congratulating her or condemning her for not learnng Welsh!

I find it ironic that in a world where the welsh-bashers pretend that only welsh -speakers get jobs, we now have the same welsh-bashers deciding whether or not to like certain leadership candidates not on how well they've been doing their current job but how how anti-welsh they're perceived to be.

As I've said - bonkers.

Drip drip drip 8:26pm on 16 Sep 2009 This is getting silly - Mapexx , steady on with the MAD CAPITALS, it's a sign of losing control. You continue to claim that only extreme views are allowed in your debates. I dispute that. As do , I 'd say, most people in Wales.
You are the one who talks of separate states on Ynys Mon, and you also fail to provide evidence. Please, I await it.
Don't try to stop me writing on this blog simply because I'm not, as you crazily put it, 'on one side or the other'. You poeople have already turned Betsan's blog into an extremist game reserve.
Jack - you said most Monmouthsire people wanted to be English. You then say 'just over half' consider thsmslves Welsh. Which is it, exactly? You say that Monmouthsire has 29 Tory councillors. Yes it does. And where exactly did you get the ide athat that made Monmouthshire English? (UNles syou;re saying that the tories are not a Welsh party, but that is surely shooting yourself in the foot).

Dream on! You seriously reckon that a serious, mature political party would waste time and hours trying to debate with a bunch of extremist cranks glued to their computer screens? I mean honestly Noah, you have delusions of grandeur, and delusions of relevance.

Even intelligent blog comments tend to be made by people with defined political views. Political parties use blogs as ways of debating, not ways of converting. I very much doubt Plaid or anyone else reads your comments, except for a laugh.

I only come here occasionally to help with psychology MA in the internet and anonymity.

Ah but Noah, Noah, you didn;t say that did you? You said that English speakers were 'more civilised' and that Welsh speakers 'sprayed spit on you whenever they spoke'. You've got a problem with Welsh speakers Noah, in that you like to make racist comments against Welsh-speakers.

Your attempts to wriggle out of it are laughable. I'm delighted you're back and digging your hole.
